I notice Moyer says I can't believe they might get back into power just 11 months after they left (meaning conservatives/Republicans). Well actually Bill the Republicans won't have a chance to get back into the Presidency for another 3 years. Congress, not the Presidency, is what will be voting on this fall. And the Democrats by that time will have been in control of the Congress for four years. So you are a little off on that one.
One of the things I like about Clinton now that I didn't realize at the time was he was pretty hands off real government enforement of the market as well during his second term. And he signed eliminating Glass-Steagal which depending on your perspective may have played a big role in leading to the financial meltdown.
And the Republicans did get punished. When was the last time one party had a super majority in Congress? The Republicans have been smoked in the last two elections.
