Maybe I'm missing something. For the first nearly three years of the Biden administration, we had people from the White House, members of Congress, DHS Secretary Mayorkas, pundits, and media people tell Americans that the border was secure. If it was secure for all that time, what triggered it to not be secure in order to create this bill to help secure it? Because if there wasn't a problem, then why was that immigration bill created as a solution?

At this site, we find the bill explained. I am still reading through this particular article, but I have already had it explained somewhat by conservative news commentators (mostly Fox News)

The "politics is God" elite Ds are using the failure of this bill (which even Ds voted against, thank God) to say that Trump could have supported the bill and done something about the border, but he didn't, he's just using the border crisis as a political football (my word).

That's the Ds for ya... always lying their asses off, doing and saying whatever they have to in order to gain or maintain power, their God.

Yes, the whole thing is ridiculous lies. They say that the border problem is all Trump's fault for torpedoing the so called "bipartisan" border bill. But:

1. We have had over three years of a totally open border under Biden and his border czar Harris before the border bill even came to be.

2. Biden signed some EO's after the failure of the border bill, after which Democrats all claimed the border is now fixed, even without the border bill.

3. Even though Democrats all claimed the border is now fixed, they are campaigning that the bad border situation is Trump's fault for torpedoing the border bill.

4. Even though democrats all claim there is no border problem anymore because Biden saved us all with his EO's and no border bill, Harris now says that if she is elected she will redo the "bipartisan" border bill, even though they are now saying the border is fixed.

Nope. With the addition of judges and courts and a shutdown when 5,000 is reached… it would have ended catch and release.

Especially with the tougher asylum rules it would have implemented

That's exactly what Trump did. He didn't even deny it during the debate.

He could not bear giving Biden a win, and having his one and only bullshit talking point taken from him.

He ordered that bill killed, and MAGA Mike Johnson saluted and called it "dead on arrival" as soon as Trump's order came in.

It's sickening Trump would order a bill killed that would make the border more secure.

Sorry, that can't happen, unless the USA reneges from some treaties signed and changes the long standing Naturalization and immigration act laws on asylum seekers, refugees, Protective status etc etc.

There has been a need for immigration reform for decades. And every single time one comes up for a vote, the bigots kill it.

Hell, when the 2014 Republican House Majority Leader, Eric Cantor, tried and failed, he was primaried out of office during the next election cycle. And there went the one and only Republican Jewish member of the House.

Trump never bothered, despite there being an overwhelming need for reform.
