Biden State Dept Says It Has No Resources To Rescue Trapped Flights In Afghanistan, No ‘Reliable Means’ To Confirm Details

Exactly. The Americans who wanted to leave Afghanistan had MONTHS to get out. Why didn't they?????

Some people had to go back to see family for the last time. Other people were working there... or were still trying to get family members out, you don't know all the reasons that you can sit here judging.
Your all out of line.

Biden on the other hand? he's the leader of the most powerful country in the world the commander in chief. And he completely screwed up the withdrawal by not coordinating with our Afghan Allies (or European allies) when he pulled out our troops in the middle of the night.
He knew the country was already starting to fall and should have calculated that all those Americans would never have gotten out in time due to government red tape.
He claims that he prepared for every contingency ... bullshit. Because if that was true they would have kept Baghram Air base open until it was clear we could get out Americans and Afghan allies in time.

Don't blame the victim. The fault lies with the professionals. As commander in chief, Biden has one job to do. He didn't do it.

Many were contractors for the US government. They were under contract by our government to work there. Others were assured by Biden that there was no chance that the Taliban would overthrow the Afghan government, while he was having secret telephone calls with the president of Afghanistan asking him to create a false impression that the Taliban was not resurging. This has all been extensively documented, have you been living under a rock?

You guys just want endless war.

No one is invading Afghanistan again anytime soon.

We were not at war in Afghanistan and hadn't been for quite some time. We were simply helping the Afghans to hold on. How long has it been since American troops have been doing patrols and forced to kick in doors? We haven't been and weren't about to anytime soon. We had relegated any of that to the Afghan Army. Politicians keep repeating the "endless war" phrase because it's calculated that it plays to their base. it's always about the next election, not doing the right things.

I want NO war! but now because of the handling of Afghanistan we will have a more motivated, more radicalized Taliban who are better armed. Jihadists all over the world are now emboldened and will try to link forces with the Taliban.
Your chances of wider war has just increased and the U.S. will eventually be forced to respond when things get bad enough.

Afghanistan has been a combat zone since we first set foot there.

And yes, we were at war. We were providing air support, were we not?

We will find a new way to combat terrorism. One that doesn’t require thousands of US troops to remain in Afghanistan.

I don't consider providing Air support being at war. It isnt. Making war is something very specific, it's going in and trying to defeat a military enemy. We were basically performing a police action and a supporting role to prevent the take over of the country.
Things are now worse than they were before .. not better.

Leaving the country is one thing, but we didn't do it the right way. The lack of coordination could not have been any worse.

We have troops stationed all over the world and there is danger wherever they are.we are a volunteer military last time I checked. Maybe we should just disband our entire military that would be much safer.

But you know.. facts dont really matter do they?

Air support most certainly is an act of war. You're literally dropping bombs and inflicting casualties on an enemy.

The admission we weren't trying to defeat the enemy shows that this most certainly was a forever war.

You overlooking the fact that whether you want to be at war or not, radical Islamists are in a forever war with the U.S. and the West, and the rest of the world for that matter. It wont be something that we can just wish would go away and avoid.
By keeping Afghanistan intact it would actually prevent more deaths of Americans than costing lives. I hope I'm wrong but once the training camps return, Afghanistan will become one more large export zone for terrorism and a place where terrorists will have safe haven.

Too bad we picked the college professor to be President of Afghanistan, we should have found one who knew the dangers of the real world and had the ability to act accordingly. That wasn't helpful.

Esmeralda and the rest of them like her are the dirt beneath the rock.

What are you talking about?

No one said they wanted a war, wanted to go back in or anything.

What you said just makes no sense.

And no one wants a war, pretty much everyone has been saying we needed out of there for the past decade.
