1. Comparing the Tea Party movement with the Occupy Wall Street protests is like comparing patriotism with communism. Arrests at a Tea Party rally? Heaven forfend. On Saturday alone, New York police had to arrest 700 Occupy Wall Street protesters
2. One movement came from the people. The other is a union/socialist worker front that even has a New York City firm working its public relations.
3. From Nobel laureate Paul Krugman on April 12, 2009: Last but not least: it turns out that the tea parties dont represent a spontaneous outpouring of public sentiment. Theyre AstroTurf (fake grass roots) events, manufactured by the usual suspects.
4. From Nicholas Kristof today: Occupy Wall Street was initially treated as a joke, but after a couple of weeks its gaining traction. The crowds are still tiny by protest standards mostly in the hundreds, swelling during periodic marches but similar occupations are bubbling up in Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Washington. David Paterson, the former New York governor, dropped by, and labor unions are lending increasing support.
5. From the New York Daily News:
The revolution will be publicized.
The Occupy Wall Street movement got a pro-bono boost last week from a not-so-underground source: a Manhattan public relations firm.
The largely anonymous protesters whove clogged Zucotti Park near the World Trade Center for the last two weeksand who, on Saturday swarmed the Brooklyn Bridgereceived what sources tell us was an unsolicited email blast from empathetic members of Workhouse Publicity.
The Chelsea-based PR firm which, according to its website has worked with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Interview magazine, filmmaker Tim Burton, Bergdorf Goodmanand Saks Fifth Avenue sent out the message, titled Occupy Wall Street: News from the Front to a number of media outlets, socialites and celebrities on Wednesday.
6. Interesting list of clientele. Wonder how much the unions are paying the PR company for its pro bono work.
But why pay for anything when the milk from the New York Times is free?
From Paul Joseph Watson: Occupy Wall Street Protesters Call For Totalitarian Government, Re-Election Of Obama.
Republicans, copy the video for use next year."
