This is my Criminal Justice Reform Plan..........
I support a life sentence on any criminal who uses a gun for an actual gun crime..... and 30 years if a criminal is caught in possession of a gun, even if they are not using it at that moment for crime.

This will dry up gun crime over night. Criminals will stop using guns for robberies, rapes and murders.....and those who do will be gone forever......

Criminals will also stop walking around with guns in their pants......which is the leading cause of random gang shootings in our cities. if they are stopped by police, with a gun in their pants, they are gone for 30 years...they will stop carrying those guns, and random gang violence will end.

You implement this with two other things...

1) No More Bargaining Away the Gun Charge.........it must be against the law to bargain away a gun charge as part of a plea deal....this stops.

2) When a criminal is arrested for any crime, and booked in...they will be read the announcement that any use of a gun in a crime is a life sentence without parole, owning or carrying a gun as a felon is a 30 year sentence without parole....when they are released from custody...the same will be read to them again....when they meet their parole officer it will be read to them again.....the U.S. government will also buy and send out Public announcements on this policy on t.v. radio. and cable......

That is how you stop gun crime over night.

Mass shooters are different..... but with only 93 people killed in mass public shootings in 2018, they are not the major problem in gun crime.

The value in my plan......it actually targets the individuals actually using guns to commit crimes and murder people....

My only suggestion is that the penalty for committing a crime with a gun in your possession, whether or not it is actually used, is the death penalty. The savings realized by law abiding taxpayers would far outweigh the loss of criminal lives.

The problem is it takes so long to carry out the death penalty it's really not a deterrent any longer. I think anybody leading the police on a high speed chase should be an automatic 10 years in prison when caught. We have them where I live all the time. In fact there was another one today that went right past my house twice.

The stronger the deterrent, the less crime. The weaker the deterrent, the more crime. It's something the liberals haven't figured out yet which is why they keep voting for Democrat Mayors, prosecutors and DA's.

I wish I could agree with you. You don't know any criminals do you? Have you ever met a criminal? No penalty will stop them. They never ever think they will get caught. When caught, it's someone else's fault. When caught, they sit around in jail thinking of ways not to get caught next time.

Totally disagree. A strong enough deterrent produces results every time it's tried. NYC had great results with stop and frisk. It reduced violent crime and in particular, violent gun crime. When they were forced to get rid of it, the crime returned with a vengeance.

In San Francisco they made shoplifting under $1,000 of merchandise a misdemeanor. It increased shop lifting to the point Walgreens closed down all their stores in the area, and other stores also followed.

Totally disagree. A strong enough deterrent produces results every time it's tried. NYC had great results with stop and frisk. It reduced violent crime and in particular, violent gun crime. When they were forced to get rid of it, the crime returned with a vengeance.

Stop and frisk wasn't a deterrent. It was the penalty, immediately. Stop, frisk, find a weapon. The criminal doesn't get it back. It's immediate that's why it worked.

Life in prison isn't a deterrent. The death penalty isn't a deterrent. If someone serving a life sentence somehow gets mercy and gets out, they almost immediately reoffend. The just know that this time, they won't get caught.

Actually, I think they have it figured out......just think of the penalties they want to inflict on normal people who own guns...........there is a passion for punishing those people that is just crazy while at the same time they want no cash bail for actual violent criminals. The anti-gunners know that every layer of red tape, with the threat of jail time, decreases the number of people who want to take the chance of owning a gun.......which is why they keep pushing Red Tape laws directed at law abiding gun owners...

Yep. That's how leftists want to deal with crime: lots of restrictions on getting and using a gun against a criminal. Defund, weaken their police, or both. Get leftist prosecutors DA's and judges to hand out the least penalty possible.
