A 1965 prediction comes true

The rich paid 3-4 times in taxes in 1965
They didn't outsource our entire industry to enemy states like china
The US government paved our highways, provided much more federal aid to college students and and invested heavily into science.

Your entire belief system is one of the 18th century.

You're more than welcome to invest in any person you want when it comes to college tuition. You should do it with your money if you think some kid whose own parents WON'T invest in him/her is such a good investment.

Give businesses a reason to stay instead of providing an incentive of higher taxes to leave.

Paul Harvey is a drama queen

Our problem is not a lack of churches

In the 18th Century they hanged criminals, traitors and lawyers.

What we have today is not progress.

No they didn't.

After the Renaissance, we we're just counting the numbers of the centuries.

The discoveries since then have been woefully incremental.

Now all three are wrapped up in one woman running for president.

All our hopes in a nutshell. :)

If you want subversive, you just have to look a the church. It's been the bane of humanity since its inception.

Notice things Harvey left out.

He would have priests molest children for decades and not be caught.
He would vote for a mormon who believes Jesus visited Alabama and wearing magic underwear is 'part of god's protection'.
He would prostrate himself at the feet of the wealthy and ignore the homeless and the hungry.
He would fight tooth and nail against the poor getting to see a doctor or dentist.
He would render judgement reserved to god to himself and judge certain people not worthy of marriage or full personhood.
He would wail against Hollywood and it's movies but pay to see them.
He would rail against television but pay for cable.

He would claim he was pro-life and rail against abortion while 20,000 children die every day around the world from disease and hunger as he did nothing.

And now you know the rest of the story.

Lol, you had me cheering you until that quip about the 18th century. (which was the 1700's, btw)

Matthew, how do you account for the Big Bang? How did anything cause it from outside the universe?

No, sir, it is your materialistic determinist world view that is 19th century, not us.

No, he would not have.

Paul Harvey was a Christian moderate, not a Losertarian nor an ideological conservative.

Well, no matter how much you scream against tech and the grown up toys..Guess what, people are going to keep buying and enjoying it. ;) People would be angry if it stopped..I honestly think it is better then war all the time, which is just another game in the mind of the people playing it.

Probably from the multi-verse bow wave striking the walls that instantly created another Universe! Which created the big bang that formed our new dimension(our universe), which thankfully has been expanding ever since.

When have I screamed against tech? I am *for* tech, but we have to adjust for the impact of tech. I believe that in 2050, who ever is still alive, will be living in a technological utopia. Getting there safely is going to be the hard part as the transition is full of huge risks of civil war, plague from low calorie consumption, and government bankruptcy.

We need to plan and prevent the worst of it NOW.

That is a nice theory, but there are two immediate responses:

1. This removes any scientific position for saying that Heaven, Hell etc are unnatural concepts, as both places could simply be alternate universes.

2. The problem itself, for a strict secularist, is not resolved and only kicks the can down the road. The fundamental problem is the Infinite Regression Fallacy. The flow of time cannot be Eternal or the Present could not be here. The Present is here, therefore the flow of time is not Eternal.

We cannot progress through an infinite number of nonzero lengths of time to arrive at an infinite point in the future as there is no terminus to the sequence. We never get there as there is no last moment, no last 'number' in the count of moments. The same is true of counting backwards in time, we never arrive at a first moment, and thus the chain of moments cannot exist for us to arrive at the present if there is no first moment to initiate the sequence of moments.

Time itself is not eternal, but must have a starting point somewhere, and it doesnt matter if you theorize an infinite number of shells of collections of universes, and shells of shells of universes, etc. There must be a first moment somewhere.

The evidence we have is that the flow of time we exist in began with the Big Bang. Anything prior to that is purely speculative, at least for now.
