There once was a valid point there. Not so much any more. When I was a kid we would walk to the bus stop or all the way to school. In the dark that wasn't all that safe.

Now granted, I speak on my experience. Others may be different. I know of no bus stops any longer. Buses stop and pick kids up right in front of their house or their mom drives them to school.

I drove past the middle school nearby the other day, and it was nearly sunset and the kids were walking home.

Going home in the near dark is ridiculous…you can just bookend the argument.

The light is needed more from 5-6 pm than from 6-7 am.

Hell, when I lived in Denver it would start getting dark at like 4 pm. Ridiculous.

The county makes the kids in the "away from it all" private mountain subdivisions gather at the entrance to the subdivisions.

I had it made....It was about a quarter mile to my bus stop but we had a nice warm medical building across from the hospital the janitor would open up for us in the winter.

I think this means you want to keep DST.

I'd rather keep DST (UTC-4) on the east coast permanently. This way it gets dark later. Right now it's dark by 5:30PM.
