Trump wants to end Daylight Saving Time

It's the US Congress who is the hold up. I don't know who it profits. :dunno:

Blah....Magically democrats will suddenly love daylight savings time because Donald Trump wants to abolish it.

I don't care what they pick as long as it stops changing.

I don't know know how it could be costly, but I see no reason not to get rid of it. There's already 1 or 2 states that don't observe it.

Not sure if it's needed?

That Trump, always right on the cutting edge...

It obvious that you haven’t figured out that if Daylight Savings Time is eliminated, getting dark early in the winter will remain.

No, everybody knows that it still gets darker earlier. There's no big clock out there in the universe, only rotation, rotation, rotation.

But it won't be dark any more when the wall clock says 4:30/5:00 in the evening, depending on what Trump actually meant by ending it.

Maybe he just meant ending the process of changing the clocks and didn't word it right. The process as a whole being the practice of moving the clock forward one hour in the spring and back one hour in the autumn.

If that's what he meant, then he wasn't really specific about which one to go with.

I want more sunlight in the evening than in the morning.

I get up at 04:30/05:00 mst of the time anyway.

But no one expects Trumpsters to be smart.

That was dumb, Tim.

So did daylight savings time contribute a buncha money to the inauguration of something? (kidding) 'Cause if we are gonna drop one what we need to lose is standard time (the later one) and keep DST.
I really don't give a shit what they do, just keep it one time.....How fuckin' hard is that? :dunno:

Then again, we have a congress that can't even agree on what to name a walking trail in a National Park.

Maybe if we would actually engage out congesspeople -- instead of waiting for a proclamation from on high from a fat orange rapist -- we would get it done.

I drove past the middle school nearby the other day, and it was nearly sunset and the kids were walking home.

Going home in the near dark is ridiculous…you can just bookend the argument.

The light is needed more from 5-6 pm than from 6-7 am.

Hell, when I lived in Denver it would start getting dark at like 4 pm. Ridiculous.
Here in west Tennessee, it is dark at 5pm, as in black.

My understanding is that they started DST back in the day because the older kids were needed at home. To help tend to the house, work on the Farm... whatever.

My opinion -- It sucks. It SUCKS ASS.

Talk about the tail wagging the dog, if you want the kids home earlier change the fucking school hours, don't make everybody else accede to your stupid idea.

I HATE DST. Just get rid of it.
It is a common myth in the United States that DST was first implemented for the benefit of farmers.

DST was first implemented in the US with the Standard Time Act of 1918, a wartime measure for seven months during World War I in the interest of adding more daylight hours to conserve energy resources.[42][41] Year-round DST, or "War Time", was implemented again during World War II.[42] After the war, local jurisdictions were free to choose if and when to observe DST until the Uniform Time Act which standardized DST in 1966.

We should have a different time in all 50 states. That'd be fun.

No shit Sherlock.
But it changes my start time when the sun rises.
For those of us in the north who see an extreme difference in the amount of daylight between summer and winter and who work outdoors, the changing of the clocks is a benefit.
Grew up on a farm in the north Einstein. Sunup was sunup no matter what the clock said. 🤦‍♂️

Probably for the people who have to call tech support because they can't figure out how to change the time in their car...
I drove a truck a while ago where I was totally mystified. Nothing I did on the "CLOCK ADJ" setting worked.

That was because instead of the radio's clock adjustment, you had to cycle through a bunch of menus on the dash display, change if from there, and then shut the key off and restart to lock the change in. WHAT?!

In my 3 years in Denver, it was black by 4:45. Sunset at 4:30.

That’s just stupid

That's actually what Trump wants to keep.

His promise would make Standard Time, which we are currently in and which people overwhelmingly hate due to the increased darkness, permanent.

Trump Suddenly Changes His Tune With New Daylight Savings Time Promise

So anyway, with that being the case I DO NOT support his position.

It's certainly possible that Trump is just rambling again and in reality has no idea which is which.

wouldn't it make more sense to change the school hours rather than force everyone to change their clocks twice a year? Why not adjust our schedules to the daylight rather than monkey with every clock in the country?
