Today is the 230th Anniversary of the Bill of Rights. As Gandolf, in The Lord of the Rings, said to the ancient demon, “You shall not pass,” these 10 statements, unique in all the world, speak to the power hungry monster of our own national government.

The problem today is we have deep state dirtbags in DC on BOTH sides of the aisle who believe that only applies to themselves.

Thomas Jefferson understood that

All Humans are Created Equal.

Sadly he did not practice what he preached.
Their focus was establishing a nation that would allow control of government by the people. It was to not correct every wrong occurring at the time. They all wrongly believed slavery would phase itself out on its own. Yes, it would have been nice if they did a US Grant, who inherited a slave and despite his poverty let him go free instead of selling him.
But the point is, their concern was establishing written guidelines to control government.

Keep in mind the "freedom of religion" thing was to pacify the dozens of idiotic Christian cults, not to promote insane parasites like Hassidic Jews, Islam and other gutter religions.

Couldn’t be further from the truth. Before Jefferson created Virginia’s Act for Establishing Religious Freedom anyone not attending a government sanctioned Church every Sunday was arrested.

well taxed i believe…Pat Henry was very much opposed to the 1st as he wanted to continue the tax

No, you actually went before a court of law and we’re typically fined for not appearing in the State sanctioned church. No matter what your faith was.
Both. In most of Virginia, you could be fined and eventually imprisoned for skipping church, and the churches were supported by taxes. Of course, in places like the Quaker enclaves, they weren't forcing everyone to attend an Anglican church, but that freedom was offset by the fact that they would get periodically raided and flattened by Virginia militia.

Not every colony was like that; Maryland, founded by Catholics, was a lot more tolerant, but Virginia became Anglican almost as soon as it was founded, and they held on to that pretty ... vigorously.
