Why I Could Never Be GOP or Libertarian

I first realized the GOP were talking out of their asses about freedom when they kept telling us the Iraq war was about freedom.

That's true enough, but why would you let that sour you on freedom?

They aren't fighting for your freedom. Wake up.

When Bush locked up Hose Padilla, a US citizen for 2 years and didn't give him his rights as a citizen, that's when I realized that you are only as free as they want you to be. You can't even protest in America anymore. Well you can if you are a tea bagger but not if you are a 99% Wallstreet protester.

Who is hose Padilla?

I woke up a long time ago. I've never voted Republican. I'm not under any delusion that they care about freedom. But based on the idiocy you've been posting, I don't even think you know what it is, and if you do, you despise it.

Listening to everything the GOP and Libertarians have to say, I have to say I viamently disagree with the direction they want to take America. They are a very selfish group.

I've always found people like you quite hypocritical. You think that people who expect to keep the money they rightfully earned are greedy, but you never consider yourself greedy in expecting them to hand over part of their wealth that you never lifted a finger to help earn.

Your expectation is the ultimate example of jealousy and greed so I suggest you take a long and hard look at that reflection in the mirror if you want to see the physical embodiment of greed.

Yes, because people like me understand the necessity of paying taxes. We all pay taxes. I pay over 35% and Romney pays 12%?

Please explain to me why I'm greedy because I want Exxon and Romney to pay their fair share.

Stop drinking the coolaid enough to understand taxes are not evil. Is the government too big and bloated, yes. But just because I agree with that doesn't mean I want to support Ron Paul. It just meanst that is one policy we all agree on. We should continue to force our government to shrink and get rid of the waste/fraud/corruption. But I see the GOP only going after programs that help poor people. None of the waste that goes to their boys. And when they cut government spending, they turn around and give it to corporations. Least that is what the GOP governors do with any extra money they find. Return the favor for getting them elected. Yea I know, Dems do it too. If you want to add campaign finance reform to our list of things we agree on, feel free. And how do you feel about Citizens United.

So instead of fighting us liberals, Ron Paul people need to continue discussing with us liberals the things that we agree on. Maybe when we have the majority next year we could use his vote and caucus to audit the Federal Reserve or close military bases around the world.

Don't fight with us. You will never win us over completely. You have to win the GOP nomination first and then we will work with you on some of the things we agree on. But ending the dept of education, social security and medicare and doing away with the Commons? Come on! Never in a million years.

Perhaps you would like to know just a little about taxes before you show your ignorance. Read this, and I can further your education if you are interested.

U.S. federal: -$156 million
U.S. state and local: $110 million
International: $15.2 billion
Exxon paid the most taxes last year of any U.S. company, by far -- but not a cent went to the IRS for income taxes. That's because the oil giant does business in some of the mostly highly taxed countries in the world. Want to extract petroleum in Nigeria? Be prepared to fork over up to 85% of your profit in tax payments.

Exxon doled out more than $15 billion in income tax payments to foreign countries last year. U.S. tax codes allow companies to take massive deductions in light of those international charges, which knocked Exxon's federal income-tax bill down into negative territory.

That said, Uncle Sam gets his money in other ways. Including sales taxes and duties, Exxon recorded $7.7 billion in U.S. tax costs last year, and paid even more overseas.

Its grand total in global taxes for the year? A whopping $78.6 billion. The company's effective income tax rate was a hefty 47%, its highest in three years

No. We know that when we try it your way, society falls apart. This was your report card in 2007:

Roll Back the Reagan Tax Cuts | Common Dreams

Since Bush has been president:

•over 5 million people have slipped into poverty;
•nearly 7 million Americans have lost their health insurance;
•median household income has gone down by nearly $1,300;
•three million manufacturing jobs have been lost;
•three million American workers have lost their pensions;
•home foreclosures are now the highest on record;
•the personal savings rate is below zero - which hasn't happened since the great depression;
•the real earnings of college graduates have gone down by about 5% in the last few years;
•entry level wages for male and female high school graduates have fallen by over 3%;
•wages and salaries are now at the lowest share of GDP since 1929.

And you hacks wanted to blame Obama for the mess we are in?

You really DON'T pay any attention around here, do you? I really didn't like George Bush, and in fact I never cast a vote for him. Don't try to pawn that prick off on me, Boo-boo, I ain't owning it.

You , on the other hand, voted for the Dear Leader, so you DO own the clusterfuck HE'S created. I'm not even going to bother listing them, you know what they are...

The only things good about Ron Paul, are the things he leans left on.

Closing military bases around the world and dealing with the wasteful military industrial complex that is where we spend more than the rest of the world combined? Just to protect cocacola so they can sell their shit in the middle east? But isn't Ron Paul in the wrong party to be talking this way? Maybe he should run as a Democrat or Independent. Sounds a lot like Bernie Sanders to me. Is this why he has no chance in the GOP?

Reigning in the Private bankers that own the Federal Reserve? The GOP won't go after the bankers. The bankers run their party.

Legalizing pot and prostitution? I'm behind him on this too!

On every other issue, Ron Paul is a nut job.

But don't argue with me. Ron Paul got 8% of the vote when Romney, Newt and Santorum all got 30%. How come middle class conservative voters aren't buying it?

Selfish is good boo boo. Thank God we still have enough freedom left after three years of socialism to be a little selfish.

Selfish is good???

Stop with the freedom and socialism bullshit! I'm so sick of you parrots saying that when you don't even know what the fuck you are talking about. Another reason I could never vote GOP. The dumb ass talking points. So easily debunked with one or two questions. And all you have is the talking point. Freedom. What a joke.

Bush has been wire tapping your phones since 2001. Actually they were doing it even before 9-11. So their excuse of "fighting terrorism" is a lie.

And then they locked up US Citizens indefinately without habeus corpus or due process, blablabla. Not about to try to explain it to a right wing talking point.

What a hoot.

Bush has been gone for over three years and the last time I checked, the Patriot Act is alive and well. Obama is now KILLING US Citizens without due process.

Listening to everything the GOP and Libertarians have to say, I have to say I viamently disagree with the direction they want to take America. They are a very selfish group.

Paul Ryan, the father of a Republican budget initiative that seeks to destroy Medicare and Social Security has continually invoked the name of Ayn Rand as his philosophical mentor and guide. Many other Republicans have do so too. They are embracing a philosophy which, according to Ayn Rand herself, is one of selfishness and is against all forms of Spirituality. The question any thoughtful Americans must ask themselves is: “Is this the America we want?”

And how do they get evangelicals to go along with them is beyond me.

Its a very selfish every man for himself mentality.

And Libertarians don't believe in the Commons. What are the Commons?

The Commons are resources that are owned by all of us. That includes the Grand Canyon, oil rights, power companies, roads, public airwaves, schools, etc.

Here is how they think. Libertarians think if we all own the land on which our sheep graze, we will each add one too many sheep until we destroy the land for future generations. That We the People can't manage the commons.

Libertarians think that if one person owns the land and charged everyone else grazing fees, he would be more committed to preserving it for the future than a village of farmers.

I disagree.

Take everything you have and give it away. You are free to do it. that's the libertarian way
Now here's the way liberal want it done. Take from others so they can give to others.

The only things good about Ron Paul, are the things he leans left on.

You could learn a lot here. I doubt you will, but there is a definite opportunity if you give it a shot.

Ron Paul "leans" neither left nor right. He's libertarian - a term you really don't understand at all. If you want to understand libertarians, contemplate this: we take tolerance and diversity seriously. We hold to the philosophy that no one has to right to force other people to bend to their will, whether they are in the majority, or the minority. Neither the left, nor the right, (at least as embodied in the Democrats and Republicans) have any real respect for freedom.

We are not brainwashed. Liberals have taken a good hard look at Ron Paul and we have determined that he says about 4 things we like. Sounds like Bernie Sanders when he says those 4 things.

These 4 things have won over a lot of low information voters who don't follow politics enough to make a really informed decision. For example, my neighbor came over and said he liked Ron Paul and he didn't know that Ron Paul wants to do away with public schools and the EPA. He didn't know Ron Paul would basically sell the Grand Canyon to a private company if he could. Libertarians don't believe in the Commons.

So you think all the Republicans on USMB voting for Romney and Santorum are brainwashed? Hey, as long as you don't vote for Romney or Santorum, you are ok with me. And I hope Ron Paul runs third party.

Tomorrow, please cancel your health insurance. Just save your own money and if you get sick, pay out of pocket. You are responsible for you. If you get cancer, I hope you have saved up a lot of money, or you know a good charity.

Or do it our way where we each pay $49 a month and spread out the risk. Chances are, 90% of us won't get sick. So the 90% pay for the 10%.

You one day might be one of the 10%.

Let me know when you cancel your group healthcare. Ok? Not gonna do it? Why? You don't need us. You'll do better on your own.

Ok, take pretty much all of the pro-freedom positions of the Democrats (that they never follow through on), and combine them with all the pro-freedom positions of the Republicans (that they never follow through on) and you have a decent approximation of libertarian politics.

Do you really want to go with that? If that is your position I must ask why would I drop something that I am paying for myself? And yes I have not always had healthcare coverage. My second ex wife had a miscarriage while we were visiting her mother in Virginia. She had to stay in the hospital for several days, I paid for the service out of my pocket by setting up a payment plan with the hospital.

I've read through your diatribe twice...slowly. Are you suffering from tourettes? This is gibberish and explains nothing what Libertarians or anyone else "believes". I truly do not understand. Slow down, collect your thoughts, and then repost and formulate a premise with complete syntax and thought behind same.

Thank you in advance, for me and the rest of us here.

Some of us did. So it's to bad? a president assassinating American citizens is to bad?
