While you were watching the quake and tsunami, Israel steals more Palestinian land!

I condemn the violence of the Palestinian attackers and I condemn Israel for using their tragic deaths as the basis for approving constuction of hundreds of new homes for an illegal settlement.
And how new homes are, supposedly, illegal?
International law. All West Bank settlement are illegal. This particular (illegal) one was established in 1984.
And what might that "international law" be?

UN General Assembly resolution 181 was to be sent to the Security council for approval and implementation. That didn't happen. The Security Council never addressed resolution 181. No borders were defined. No state was created.
The resolution was adopted on Nov. 29, 1947. The UNSCOP reported to the Security Council on Feb. 16, 1948:
"Powerful Arab interests, both inside and outside Palestine, are defying the resolution of the General Assembly and are engaged in a deliberate effort to alter by force the settlement envisaged therein."
That's it, arabs wanted to wipe jews off the map and plunder the jovish property and in the process got their asses stomped; and one country came into being, while the other one didn't, because the very people (arabs) it was meant for, were interested in plundering the first one, than having a state.
Briton did not acquire the land it went to the Palestinians. Briton could not give away what was not theirs.
So, who was that shakh, sultan, sheikh, prime-minister of that "palestinian state"?

Ahmed Hilmi Abd al-Baqi was named Prime Minister. Hilmi's cabinet consisted largely of relatives and followers of Amin al-Husayni, but also included representatives of other factions of the Palestinian ruling class. Jamal al-Husayni became foreign minister, Raja al-Husayni became defense minister, Michael Abcarius was finance minister, and Anwar Nusseibeh was secretary of the cabinet.

A Palestinian National Council was convened in Gaza on 30 September 1948, under the chairmanship of Amin al-Husayni. The council passed a series of resolutions culminating on 1 October 1948 with a declaration of independence over the whole of Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital.

Hilarious. But let's review the facts in order:
  • May 15, 1947 - The General Assembly established a Special Committee on Palestine (UNSCOP).
  • August 31 - The UNSCOP recommended partition of Palestine with an internationalised Jerusalem, a minority report recommended a federation.
  • September 29 - The Arab higher committee rejected the UNSCOP recommendation formally.
  • October 2 - The Jewish agency accepted the UNSCOP recommendation formally.
  • November 29 - The UN approved the partition.
  • November 30 - Arab mobs attacked jews in Jerusalem, arab armed thugs began operations against jews everywhere.
  • March 19, 1948 - The US proposed a partition suspension and called for a special session of the GA to discuss trusteeship.
  • April 1 - The Security Council called for a truce and a special session of the GA to reconsider future of Palestine.
  • May 13 - Feisty Jaffa arabs got their asses kicked by hagana.
  • May 14 - Declaration of Independence. The US recognized Israel de facto.
  • May 14 - The British mandate ended. Arab armies invaded Israel.
  • May 17 - The USSR recognized Israel.
  • May 19 - Jerusalem cut off by arabs.
  • May 1948 - July 1949 - War.
That arab "government" missed the train, like all arabs, typically, do, neither was it present during the mandate period to support the allegation that there, somehow, was an established palistanian arab sovereign, which was, allegedly, ousted.
