Looks like the entire nation may be having its dick cut off this time.

The US pharmaceutical industry has always been famous of its blunders, but this one is the juiciest of all.

Enjoy knowing that I will have more money in the future with less ex wives and kids to raise.
Yeah, but you'd probably have to pee through a straw.

From the article ---

The FDA further stated that from March 2013 to May 2018, the agency identified 12 cases of Fournier’s gangrene in patients taking an SGLT2 inhibitor such as Invokamet. All 12 patients were hospitalized and required surgery. By comparison, only 6 cases of Fournier’s gangrene were identified by the FDA in a review of other antidiabetic drugs over a period of 30 years.

Don't know the competitors for Invokana well enough -- BUT -- prior to 2013, the options for insulin supplements or co-treatments were kinda limited. And gangrene like infections were ALWAYS a major diabetic effect.

Just because there were only 6 cases of Fournier's gangrene in the past 30 years and now in last EIGHT years there's 12 IS NOT STATING a scientific RATE for the side effect. You'd have to normalize that with the NUMBER of patients being TREATED for diabetes. So it's BUNK -- unless it's a normalized rate. Here's why...

Lawyers be spinning yarns. The science in the courtroom will determine the "crime"... From 0.5Mill in the 80s to about 1.7 MILL in mid 2000s.. That's over a 3 time increase.

"Looks like the entire nation may be having its dick cut off this time"?? Sounds like you might be overreacting just a bit.

Unless there is an entire nation of Type 2 diabetics, your claim is absolutely ridiculous. As it is, the FDA has only identified 12 cases of Fournier’s gangrene. Hardly an entire nation.
