Last night on my local 10:00 pm news they interviewed a man who owns a metal building company, and sells steel to construction companies ..

he said his prices have seen a 58% increase, and his requests for bids have all but stopped. He was more or less hinting about going out of business ..

Not to surprising, but let Me ask you something.

Are you for American's and American families earning a living wage?

Because this is the price. If we say that we want American wages (very high compared to the rest of the world), then we have to pay higher prices for the commodities that these wages produce.

Pay a steelworker 70k a year, and that cost is going to translate to higher steel prices.

Or we can continue to import inferior steel from other world actors and have cheap (literally) steel for our building materials.

I actually don't think that tariffs are a good idea...........UNLESS............... we are using them as a negotiating tool to get better and more equitable trade deals.
