MI Moving to a Right to Work State!!! Congrats!!!

1) they aren't the majority.

Since when are our guaranteed Constitutional rights dependent upon being part of the majority?

They lose in the elections so they resort to invading the state buildings to shout down any politician that doesn't give them what they want.

Like the Tea Party?

Storming public buildings to disturb the peace and operations of the state Government should bring the police to crack their skulls to pieces.

People have the right to petition their government. As long as they are not inflicting physical harm on anyone, there is no one reason for that right to be suspended.
To the bolded: What are you talking about?

There were plenty of town hall meetings and such with Congressmen around the country in 2009 and 2010 where tea party folks showed up en masse and shouted them down. Videos were all over the Internet and I'm sure still are.

And your conclusion is? Do you know of non-union companies and corporations that went bankrupt. Or are you to chicken shit to mention them.
You mean to state that the CEO's were not part of the problem for GM and it troubles.
How utterly dumb of you.

Idiot, why should workers that help make a company profitable get lower wages while the CEO's take the bulk of the profit. Why should CEO's who have no foresight for the company and drive them to bankruptcy get million dollar bonuses.
IDIOT!
Just like GM's CEOs and just like GM went bankrupt.

Oh, wait....GM is union.

And, there is nothing illegal about that, either.

In fact, many town halls were at the invitation of tea partiers and not all took place in public buildings. Plus, no interference in anyone doing their job, happened.

It's freedom of speech.

And some of those intelligent people decided to become unionized.
Damn, how about that concept.
Workers who have a great worth ethic are union workers. Yet some hate to really admit that to themselves.
The workers that are not unionized can and will get fired for now apparent reason. Just a fact of life.

How on earth does anyone see this as a good thing? Good lord. You don't think workers should have any leverage in the workplace? Well, at least you know wages will be taking a real dive there. Good job, corporatist morons.

Workers have plenty of leverage in the work place in a right to work state versus a union shop state.
Between their ears and at the end of their legs.
They can walk and educate themselves for what the market demands.
The individual with a good attitude and work ethic is far more powerful, and most importantly a more desired employee by any business, than the union worker.
What is amazing is that this surprises people.

Anything in politics that is given a nice sounding name has vast potential to eat your lunch.

Like CAIR or the Affordable Healthcare Act or the Wall Street Reform Act? You do have a point, but in this case the product lives up to the name!

Your dumb enough to believe this helps MI.

There's really no point in making a point in this thread.

2014 MI will flush the turds who voted for this down the toilet to the sewers of TX.

Let's me, 6.5% smaller wage for a job you don;t have now. Pretty easy choice there.

Michigan is already an at will employment state slick.

Any other false statements you want to scare the public with?

I live in Michigan, these people have my full support. Every job added in this county in the last year was nonunion.

Way to go! Step in the right direction to save another state from Union Thuggery that destroys industries and decimates our manufacturing sector!!!

Politics: Michigan's Governor, Rick Snyder, announces right-to-work fight | CainTV
After living under the tax-and-spend yoke of Jennifer Granholm for eight years, Michigan was in complete financial disarray. The state changed course in 2011, after placing Republican Rick Snyder in the Governor's mansion. In just one year, he managed to begin the turnaround, posting a $457 million surplus. Since then, most believe he's done a solid job of steering Michigan toward a better future.

Snyder has announced that he wants to see Michigan's legislature pass right a right-to-work bill, and that he'll definitely sign it when it makes it to his office.

According to State House Speaker Jase Bolger, the move is a no-brainer. "Workers," he said, "deserve the freedom to decide which organizations they want to join and which organizations they do not want to join. These are values that should unite us, they should not divide us."

The new law would affect almost 20% of Michigan's workforce, though it would include exemptions for police and firefighter unions. These organizations are protected by existing law and the state constitution.

Given that GM, Ford, and Chrysler are all headquartered in the Detroit area, the repercussions are as much national as they are local. While spoiled, union-controlled, Detroit leadership demands a federal bailout, the rest of us have been fighting to free the area from their influence. In a state where the unions have spent eighty years cementing their power and buying their influence, you can rest assured that the battle is about to get very, very, nasty.

Just imagine a Michigan, and a big three, that had finally been relieved of an unalterable adherence to oppressive, lopsided, union contracts.

Cool. This lets our individual workers compete with Malaysa better for low wages.

Great. :(

But oh well. Part of the trend and part of Unions not adjusting fast enough.

Are we happy at least big brother has created OSHA and some hours of work regulations instead of counting on union contracts to have them? Yay, great. Lets count on the government instead of private contracts. At least the government is there to protect us from eachother.

Note my sarcasm about the whole event.
how does tyrannical union practices help that?
If they cant persuade people to join them of their own free will then they need to not exist.

And that hourly wage is probably slightly above your IQ.

You can't refute my post so you decide to insult. Keepin' it classy, I see. I've worked in two right (not) to work states and I hope I never have to again. We need more unions in the private sector, not less. Labor has almost lost all of its voice. Employers are engaging in full-blown exploitation of labor all while making record profits & record productivity, and you know it. I guess you won't be happy until wage earners are trying to live on $30 a week, or corporations bring back work houses. That's exactly where we're headed.

freedom and liberty is always a good thing.....Breaking the fascist grasp of the union in Michigan is a fucking damn good thing.... Born and raised in Michigan and know first hand the corruption and out right thuggery of the unions......Michigan is starting to get its freedom back. :clap2::clap2: time the American people took back their right to work without extortion!

Great idea for those that don't want to fight for what they deserve. Take a little time and research the difference of states that are RTW, and by region in the state, compared to those that have the right to collective bargaining.
Then maybe do some research on what board members do in their meetings. I wonder if they sit and "collective" have an idea of how to treat workers etc.
Let me start you on the path of real education in the work world.
Table 1). Our best estimate is that workers living in right-to-work states earn, on average, 6.5% less than similar workers in non-RTW states.

Table 1

An analysis along gender lines reveals similar trends. On average, men in RTW states earn 7.8% less than their counterparts in non-RTW states; women in RTW states earn 6.8% less (Table 2).

Table 2

Unlike previous research by Bennett (2001), we find that, even after controlling for regional costs of living, workers in right-to-work states earn less per hour. Particularly interesting is the affect on workers living in cities that are stretch across state line, placing it in both a right-to-work state and a non-RTW state. Seventeen out of 433 metropolitan areas in our sample (nearly 4%) spill over from a right-to-work state to a non-RTW state. Our analysis indicates that, in areas where a pure RTW state effect exists (i.e., no spill-over effect), the right-to-work penalty is larger.

Oh, surely those that hate to admit to facts will tell how this is some progressive blog and discard it which is the usual modus operandi for the neo cons.
Good luck Michigan and good luck to the workers of this country.
It is headed to the Plutocracy we deserve.

Not to worry boilermaker, as companies move to right to work states it will equal out. You'll be okay though, because all your guys are highly skilled and hard workers....

and soon to be unemployed.

Enjoy your low wage jobs, where they can fire you for no reason whatsoever. God, when did Americans get this stupid??? So labor should have no leverage whatsoever... how is that "freedom and liberty"? Well, it is for the slave-wage employer I guess...

Spoken like a true idiot with no knowlage of how the world out side New York works.....Hey tell me how that $3000 a month closet is going? Do you think cause they make more money they are better off? All you have to do is look at your own pathetic city to see what happens to cost of living with absurd wages.
