‘Hell to pay’: Puerto Rico Governor to investigate delays in water, food deliveries

When the governor catches the asshats misdirecting the supplies, I hope he puts them in jail on daily rations of a cup of pond water and a pack of peanut butter crackers for a fucking month.
Christ, that's cartel worthy shit, stealing disaster relief supplies.
Catches them how?

That's the problem with an enormous natural disaster. That's why the military is needed.

Read something this morning where military is dropping supplies in remote villages and the authorities are gathering them up and not distributing them evenly.

They left thousands of containers delivered before the storm even hit at the ports, instead of moving them around to strategic areas noted for difficulty of getting to after storms hit.

The bloviating bimbo is merely covering up for her own incompetence and lack of leadership.

Trump had 30 days to get them distributed & failed!

and, he still hasn't mowed my yard yet, either, the bum!

Trump has 2 million military people that can distribute emergency aid, water, food, restore, water, food, electric, roads, communications regardless of the conditions of it's devastated local government & it's infrastructure. It's been 35 day's since Trump declared Puerto Rico state of emergency & could not even get bottled water delivered. 35 US citizens died there over that period of time.

It appears that not everybody has forgotten about the devastation in Puerto Rico.

Governor Ricardo Rossello of Puerto Rico has ordered an investigation over water and food distribution on the hurricane-battered island after complaints that the supplies were not reaching the people in some areas.

"If there is a place, a locality that is not delivering food to the people of Puerto Rico that need it, there's going to be some hell to pay," Rossello said on Monday, according to Reuters.

Rossello said the government was trying to identify problems in the distribution pipeline, looking to ensure that local leaders deliver resources to people as soon as they arrive in the municipality.

"I think that there are places where water is being withheld and food is being withheld," Rossello said. "We need to showcase it, we need to push it forward to the people."

Governor Ricardo needs to investigate that outrage. Boatloads of water, food, fuel and supplies are moored in San Juan but there they sit without the inland getting anything. Governor Ricardo needs to get an FBI investigation and prosecuted to the furthest extent of the law.

The problems with distribution in Puerto Rico would and do happen anywhere whenever there is a shortage of both supplies and manpower after a natural disaster.

The Puerto Rico Government was destroyed. Their drivers are fighting to stay alive. They can't deliver supplies. The Federal Government is charged with getting the supplies & relief directly to the people. The Trump Administration Failed to do it's job regardless of what local officials are doing.

Would that be because our glorious orange leader ask the pentagon 3 times "if we have nukes, then why can't we use them?"?

I think but not sure that The Joint Chiefs of Staff have ultimate authority for nuke use. Trump does not have the codes and if he did could not interpret the complicated jargon.

I hope so, because my Mom started stockpiling food when she heard this. I had to tell her it was senseless because a nuclear exchange is not survivable. That nuclear weapons today are over than 3,300 times more powerful than the bomb we dropped on Hiroshima. Forget about "duck & cover" drills, stockpiles of water, food & weapons or bomb shelters. If that ever happens everyone is completely screwed.

We have 2 million military plus FEMA. Yet just now deployed up to 15k a month later to rescue 3.5 million US citizens.
Our response is an embarrassment and a disgrace.
Random airdrops of supplies without supporting security and civil affairs personnel are normally only used for the first few days after the initial disaster. After the first few days, the drops should come with both the security and civil affairs personnel.

I remember how Gen. Honore was mocked for asking where the paratroopers were as soon as he put his boots on the ground, but that is what he was talking about. Teams should have been deployed in all those isolated areas to secure the supplies from looters, thugs, corrupt politicians, and mobs of desperate victims of the disaster to establish order and at least temporary operating facilities. That is SOP and why it was not done and still has not been done is an unknown question.

FEMA: "It is not our job"
FEMA was rebuilt after Katrina by both the Bush and Obama administration. Proof of the success of those rebuilding efforts was seen in the initial responses to recent hurricanes. The FEMA resources have eroded lately and they are facing deep and painful funding dilemma's now. In addition, a troublesome lack of an adequate military assistance response has been seen. The Navy has about 10 or 12 specialized warships particularly suited for response to hurricane responses. These are ships called LHD's. You can look up Wasp Class ships to get a good look at what these ships are and what they are able to do.

Only one of these ships was deployed to Puerto Rico and another on deployed nearby serving the country of Dominica. It was deployed to Puerto Rico once it became obvious a larger response was needed there.
In fairness, the deployment of more of these ships may not have been possible due to their deployment in other areas around the globe, such as Korea and the Mideast. They are Marine Amphibious landing ships. If those ships could not be deployed to Puerto Rico the military would certainly have other options to make up for the shortage.

Puerto Rico investigating something sounds pretty funny. I don't know why.

No, that is what you did bub. The discussion was about the Governor of Puerto Rico and you confused him with the mayor of the capital who had been in the press so much. The one babbling is you with your lack of information or understanding of the topic. But go ahead and point out any of my post that seems like babbling to you. I already called you out on one of yours, so it's your turn.

Read something this morning where military is dropping supplies in remote villages and the authorities are gathering them up and not distributing them evenly.

That's usually the case with PR govt., not much different than most Central and South American govts. in their attitudes toward their own people. The vast bulk pf the population is within easy reach of the Port of San Juan, around two thirds of them live in the San Juan Metro area, and another substantial number around Ponce; it isn't rocket science to know where to position stuff, it's not a big place, and certainly any idiot who lives there would know about where in the mountains and hills to station supplies ahead of time.
