Collective bargaining "rights"??

How long will that take?

How many months will there be no schools functioning?

So are the teachers for the kids or the money? If they are for the kids they will teach.

This is not just about teachers you idiot.

Its about teachers and all Americans.

Its about the right to have some control over what happens to your life.

You know those old fashioned ideas of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

What about the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of FREE SCHOOL LUNCH for the Poor Children who are getting none while the teachers force the shut down of schools?

DIDJAEVERTHINABOUTTHAT?

"Collective".....smells like socialism to me.....no wonder BO is on the side of the teachers....

A Collective is a little bit different from an Assembly of individuals..

Once you join a Collective your individual rights disappear....the individual must submit to the group interests.....you become a cipher of the Borg...
Do I bother linking to CIA papers on brainwashing/programming and subjects' thoughtless response to trigger words?

The bottom line is people who have agreed to what they have now, want to turn their backs on what they gave their words on.

But I got to tell you right now that just like the shut down of the govt by republicans would cause a devatation to this country, the shut down by public employees would do the same. Most of the big mouths on this site don't have a clue at what it takes to do a days work at labor, they live off making money off of others hard work.

It seems to be a big problem with those who have it made in life that ordinary hard working people actually have the ability to feed their families, provide them with a place to live and and have the ability to provide health care.

Somehow people think that people who took less in wages over the years to be guarenteed healt and welfare issues should all of a sudden have those taken away from them, and be told that you now have to start paying for what you gave up.

Were going to take back what you have and give you nothing in return for what you gave up to get it. Sounds like a real winner for one side of our country.

What you jerks can't understand is people gave up things to get benefits guarenteed by their employers. And telling people they must pay 12% of this and 8% of this only means one thing, your decreading their pay.

It's about a teachers union complaining that their boss curtailed their benefits....join the real real world...this happens in companies all the time.....the state cannot afford it anymore....can't teachers LEARN....?

What knowledge? You refer to your programming by the mass media and your inability to think for yourself?

It's just frustrating being surrounded by you idiots.

Idiot.

No one is saying they cant control their lives. They are more then welcome to walk off the job. No one is saying they dont have the right to happiness or liberty.

They are more then welcome to walk out on any job.

Back when we all had jobs fat government was a burden, now that so many of us have lost our jobs, the burden is to great. I am not talking recent jobs, I am talking of the industry we have lost. We need those jobs to pay teachers.

Still why focus on teachers, this is a battle against government, put the face of a teacher on the battle so we feel its just bad republicans doing bad things. The whole damned school system is full of waste and fraud, cut the adminstrators, cut jobs, make everyone in government work harder. Whenever I go in a government office for anything being a stamp or to register my truck, it sucks, seems like a whole lot of uninspired low lifes sucking off my tax dollar to me.

Yes forget about the worthless people behind the scenes who are very quiet, lets focus on teachers, or firemen, or the police, as if there is not 4 trillion dollars worth of bureacracy behind the face they present to the people they literally rob.

We are slaves to the government and if you do not work for government, you have no security or future. That is the choice, suffer paying taxes, or be one who taxes are paid to.

The Constitution specifies limits of government power. It does not grant those who work for the government POWER over the rest of us via collective bargaining resulting in an ever increasing tax burden due to their insatiable desire for MORE.

It doesn't have to grant those people a power. People have that power unless specifically prohibited by government. The constitution restricts rights of government, not people.

Scuze me - those people ARE the government.

No, they are not. They are a unionized labor force with the same rights of assembly as any other person. Working for the government does not require you to give up rights and privileges granted those who work for other sectors.

We The People (of Wisconsin) is the government....

The teachers' ultimate boss is We The People....led by the Governor who as the employer has the right (along with the Wisconsin representatives in congress) to cut their bennies....the employees (teachers) can unionize and whine all they want but if the employer (We The People) says to cut the bennies.....they get cut...

Easy then. Get rid of all unions.

Constitution be damned! Amazing how quickly so-called conservatives will toss the Constitution when it doesn't benefit them. All good authoritarian dictators outlaw unions.

The right of assembly is in the first amendment, thanks very much.

Maybe, after a few more days of teachers skipping school, the Governor can FIRE every one of their asses as a group, too?
Yep. It's called at-will employment.

As a Leftist, I support both At-Will Employment and Right-to-Work laws along with the right to unionize, the power of collective bargaining, and the right to a secret ballot.
And I support the right of an employer to tell anyone he likes whether collectively or individually to pound sand. The state is under no obligation to bargain with a union because its workers decide to form one.

They have all the control they need. They can choose to accept employment under the terms offered or they can choose to go elsewhere.

Getting rid of unions = refusing to allow assembly.

You're making Chavez proud.

No it doesn't.

They can gather and protest to their wee hearts' content.

What they do not have the right to do is to force others into contracts (which is what collective bargaining is) against their will.

Sorry, wrong.

Let the unions assemble all they want. Have a blast and congregate. Yell and scream all they want.

But do not allow the unions to dictate ONE thing to employers. If union employees want to leave a job, fine. They can be replaced with a non union worker.
