Collective bargaining "rights"??

The people have the right to meet together and act in unison.

You can NEVER take that away without trashing the first amendment
So if a group of 100 like minded people agree and assemble for the lynching of a minority... they are protected by the first Amendment.

Gotcha.

Okay.

Where in the Constitution does is specify that Government Employees have collective bargaining rights?

oh my....

The constitution and Bill of Rights are not a laundry list of things the benevolent folks in DC give us the right to do.

It's more accurately a very detailed list of the limited powers granted to the government. Preventing assembly or collective bargaining units is not on the list.

Where does it specify that people who work for the government should be able to rig the game by negotiating with politicians for money provided by third parties who have no voice at the negotiating table?

Again, you are fundamentally wrong about the purpose of the Constitution. It is not an express list of rights granted the individual (or the collective). It is a clear list of the limited rights and restrictions of government.

There is no line in the constitution that guarantees you the right to walk on the sidewalk. That doesn't mean it's illegal to walk on the sidewalk until the government grants you the right - it means that it's legal unless and until the government restricts access to the sidewalk.

And then they will have to replace them.

Who will they hire and who will want to work for an employer who will fire them for being Americnas

Well, with unemployment still at around 9%, and NY getting ready to layoff about 6,000 teachers, I have to believe there will be plenty of resumes submitted. Not to mention, WI won't have to spend $90K annually on the new breed.

And then they will have to replace them.

I know at least 2 people who have had to look for work elsewhere because they couldn't land a teaching gig, who will be so happy to relocate to WI and take 89K a year to teach. Hell, they'd probably do it for 61k which is the national average for state employees.

Keep on protesting no paycheck and thinking you're 'right' is so much better.

Just about every headline I have read about the proposed budget changes in Wisconsin mentions Collective Bargaining "rights". I am NOT the sharpest tack in the box, and after extensive Google searches, can find no LAW that stipulates such rights. What am I missing?

The United States Constitution:

Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Please cite the Supreme Court case where they applied the Constitution as you wish in this statement. If they haven't, then it doesn't mean that -- end of story.

How can you compare a crime to a constitutional right
they have the right to assemble. that means it's protected, isn't it?

Noticing a flaw in your 'logic' yet?

How dumb are you?

Not just the teachers BUT every union job in this country has 10 people who would love to have a nice cushy job. It would not be a problem replacing union employees and replacing them with non union workers.

They dont pay them that now.

Thats a right wing lie.

BTW do you think people with bachlors degress and teaching cridentials grow on trees?

Keep hating our democracy.

You will never be able to stop the people of this country from acting as a group
When did you start supporting democracy? Scott Walker Won. The socialists lost.

All my life.

Hell the right here claims we are not even a democracy.

I have had to often remind them of the definitions of the words.
So, you're agreeing that the teachers unions need to step down and obey the winning governor and take the pay cuts?

He won after all.

How long will that take?

How many months will there be no schools functioning?

Reported on Fox News not an hour ago. Nobody credible is disputing it. Only kooks.

It's part and parcel with the same amendment that gives Lobbyists the "rights" they have..

Go fig.

Yep.

Kinda like this system did last year.

Seventy-four Rhode Island teachers have been fired from Central Falls High School, as well as 19 staff members, including the principal, USA Today reports.

The elimination of the 93 school employees was validated by the Central Falls High School school board, when it voted 5-2 last night to fire all teachers from the under-performing school.

Rhode Island Teachers FIRED: Central Falls High School Officially Fires All Teachers

Guess who is running the Rhode Island schools now? Hint: the same woman who was the state superintendent of schools for Adrian Fenty in DC when Michelle Rhee was busting the school union in DC under the guise of "modernizing and updating the school facilities" Close a school for "upgrading" fire all the teachers and staff, move to the next one.
