Collective bargaining "rights"??

All my life.

Hell the right here claims we are not even a democracy.

I have had to often remind them of the definitions of the words.
So, you're agreeing that the teachers unions need to step down and obey the winning governor and take the pay cuts?

He won after all.

OBEY???????

hummmm the real you is coming out
Nooooo... I'm just channelling Obama for you.

Or don't you recall his "I Won." Decree?

I'm just wondering why you don't think Scott Walker should get the same deference P-BO desired?

And then they will have to replace them.

Who will they hire and who will want to work for an employer who will fire them for being Americnas

How dumb are you?

Not just the teachers BUT every union job in this country has 10 people who would love to have a nice cushy job. It would not be a problem replacing union employees and replacing them with non union workers.

How long will that take?

How many months will there be no schools functioning?
Since so many public schools are failing across the board, are they really functioning?

Well, with unemployment still at around 9%, and NY getting ready to layoff about 6,000 teachers, I have to believe there will be plenty of resumes submitted. Not to mention, WI won't have to spend $90K annually on the new breed.

They dont pay them that now.

Thats a right wing lie.

BTW do you think people with bachlors degress and teaching cridentials grow on trees?

Based on your writing skills, NO, I do not think " people with bachlors degress and teaching cridentials grow on trees".......:eusa_whistle:

oh my....

The constitution and Bill of Rights are not a laundry list of things the benevolent folks in DC give us the right to do.

It's more accurately a very detailed list of the limited powers granted to the government. Preventing assembly or collective bargaining units is not on the list.

Where does it specify that people who work for the government should be able to rig the game by negotiating with politicians for money provided by third parties who have no voice at the negotiating table?

Again, you are fundamentally wrong about the purpose of the Constitution. It is not an express list of rights granted the individual (or the collective). It is a clear list of the limited rights and restrictions of government.

There is no line in the constitution that guarantees you the right to walk on the sidewalk. That doesn't mean it's illegal to walk on the sidewalk until the government grants you the right - it means that it's legal unless and until the government restricts access to the sidewalk.

The Constitution specifies limits of government power. It does not grant those who work for the government POWER over the rest of us via collective bargaining resulting in an ever increasing tax burden due to their insatiable desire for MORE.

Just about every headline I have read about the proposed budget changes in Wisconsin mentions Collective Bargaining "rights". I am NOT the sharpest tack in the box, and after extensive Google searches, can find no LAW that stipulates such rights. What am I missing?
10th amendment

collective bargaining is a manifestation of the very same rights to self-determination and free association upon which the democratic nature of our very society and nation are based.

The United States Constitution:

Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Please cite the Supreme Court case where they applied the Constitution as you wish in this statement. If they haven't, then it doesn't mean that -- end of story.

I don't have to "cite" shit.

It's clearly in the United States Constitution.

A republic is a type of democracy under the definitions of the words.

You are confusing direct or pure democracy with Democracy

Kinda like this system did last year.

Seventy-four Rhode Island teachers have been fired from Central Falls High School, as well as 19 staff members, including the principal, USA Today reports.

The elimination of the 93 school employees was validated by the Central Falls High School school board, when it voted 5-2 last night to fire all teachers from the under-performing school.

Rhode Island Teachers FIRED: Central Falls High School Officially Fires All Teachers

I hope that continues. Perhaps it will wake people up to the crap being forced on them by real Elites.

Ah ha.

You lose.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Naw.

I will stick with the Constitution.

You can be against it if you want.

In my game...I win.

Its in the constitution.

I cant imagine why you think its not.

The people have the right to assemble to redress their government.

You can not force them to stop acting in unison to guide their own lives.

It is now becoming very clear why the right has tried to trash the word "Democracy" for years now.

So are the teachers for the kids or the money? If they are for the kids they will teach.

This is not just about teachers you idiot.

It doesn't have to grant those people a power. People have that power unless specifically prohibited by government. The constitution restricts rights of government, not people.

Give that man a cigar!:clap2:

"Collective".....smells like socialism to me.....no wonder BO is on the side of the teachers....

A Collective is a little bit different from an Assembly of individuals..

Once you join a Collective your individual rights disappear....the individual must submit to the group interests.....you become a cipher of the Borg...

Scuze me - those people ARE the government. They are abusing their positions as government employees, holding the public hostage, and colluding with career politicians to extract MORE from taxpayers.

Its about teachers and all Americans.

Its about the right to have some control over what happens to your life.

You know those old fashioned ideas of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
