Boeing, unions, and the right to work

But out govt is a consumer and has a right to buy planes and such from any source they want.
Be it union or non union.

People forget how much Unions have done for ALL workers.

.

Have being the operative word and proper tense. Currently, they do nothing for anyone not a member of the club and contribute nothing to society.

But rather now the UNIONS have become the takers...and takers to things they are NOT entitled to at the expense of the TAXPAYERS...and WE were sick of it...

Uhhh....this was about PRIVATE unions. But since you brought it up..........

YOU hired public employees. You set the wages and benefits. They're doing the work fixing your roads, cleaning your SHIT in the sewage treatment plants, teaching your stupid kids and hauling YOUR garbage. Now pay the poor bastards and quit your crying.

Highlighted in red above are the jobs in Indianapolis that are contracted by the gubmint to private firms. In blue are the jobs that are done at half the cost by private firms compared to public administration.

Also in Indiana is a toll road that was sold to a private concern immediately netting billions for the state coffers and that currently generates tax revenue after being expanded and improved by a private firm. The expansion and improvements were paid for by the purchasing company.

When it was under government management and control and manned by government union employees, it was a perrenial money loser, had a tardy maintenance schedule and had not been expanded to handle the growing traffic due to cost considerations.

If we're lucky, Mitch Daniels will be President in 2012.

Indiana is indeed a state of low wages and low expectations. What else needs to be said. Daniels is doing a good job of lowering them even more.

As Reagan said, "There you go again". You were once briefly a member of the Carpenter's Union and that makers you expert enough to coment on ALL Unions? You truly are a wonder.

First of all, there MAY be a few Locals where you MIGHT get away with being drunk on the job ONE TIME. But they are few and far between, my friend.

We had a guy with 32 years of service come into work stoned last year. He was fired on the spot (after a brief trip to the ER to determine why he was acting so goofy). He appealed to the Union to pay to arbitrate his case and my Union said, "No. You put your co-workers lives at risk. We cannot and will not defend your actions".

So as you can see you're wrong as usual. But that happens when you get all your information from FOX and Limbaugh.

Apology accepted.

One anecdote requires another. I worked at the USPS quite a few years ago and it was fairly common for an employee, usually on 2nd or 3rd shift, to show up drunk or stoned. They were ALWAYS sent, or given a ride home and not allowed to work the shift. Usually they got paid by taking sick leave or a day of vacation.

I love when Conservatives call for government regulation of private contracts....

Forced unionism is government regulation of private contracts, turd. "Right to work" prevents the federal government from forcing union membership on employees.

You would call the Bill of Rights, "regulation" of society.

What the fuck are you talking about? The government has nothing to do with "forcing union membership" - that's a clause in the contract between the union and the employer. The Federal government only gets involved in "Right to work" states, where those clauses are made illegal.

Bullshit. There are many laws that govern company’s options in unionizing. Specifically, it is ILLEGAL for a company to prevent the workers from unionizing or threatening consequences should their employees decide to form a union. At that point the company has no choice but to enter some agreement with the union. RTW simply puts the union under the same constraint. No longer can a worker be forced to pay a union when they feel a union does not represent their interests. That is a good thing and it is called freedom. Freedom to form a union, join a union and leave a union. The fact that you are unwilling to accept people having a choice to not be part of a union is amazing. If unions were so wonderful then why must you force people to join them?

People forget how much Unions have done for ALL workers.

.

*NO* we haven't...LAWS are in place now to protect workers...UNIONS take it too FAR...and want MORE than they're entitled to, and have made a PACT with the DEVIL gubmint they used to be AGAINST...

*YES* you have. Unions are largely responsible for those laws and benefits that you enjoy.

.
No, everyone here acknowledges the benefits of unions in the past. Currently they have begun to run rampant and have lost focus on their original intent because the power and special legal rights that they have gained. There is no reason that a union should be able to exist that can force people to join taking away the requirement for them to actually represent their workers in a healthy relationship. RTW restores their place, allowing workers to freely join a union that represents their interests or staying non union for an employer that is paying them a good wage for their work.

Wow....you're hopeless.

With each passing post you continue to show your ignorance of unions and unionized workers.

The only thing you're being honest about or showing any knowledge about is that you get your news from FOX.

And that explains a whole lot.

.

I saw the film of those lazy assed UAW members smoking pot and drinking at the local park when they were supposed to be working.

The reality of your typical union member doesn't match your delusions.

The truth hurt's, don't it?

uhhhhh, seriously Bripat? You don't think some private sector workers ever go out and smoke a dooby? What the heck? You take only 2 pot smokers from a union that you saw in a video, and you label and tag ALL union members as being like them?

Does anyone around here use their own God given power to reason and think on their own anymore?
Typical liberal playbook material. Accuse others of doing what it is liberals do..
Doesn't wash.

all of those working in a union environment, even those who choose not to become members of the union, do have to pay administration fees to the union for what they have done that benefits the non union member is my understanding of the law of the land....? and that union members or non union members can not be forced to have their money go to any political party....that money for political parties has to be a separate fund, where the union member chooses to donate, at his free will to.

I posted these laws earlier in this thread with a link....?

Is this not true?

you said nothing of substance in that post above so I have no idea what your gibberish complaint is about?

Employers decide how much they pay their employees, and not visa versa.

Now shut the fuck up, union thug.

As usual, the libs don't know what the fuck they are talking about. The federal government forces private corporations to sign contracts with unions. that's the only reason any corporation ever agreed to their extortion.

Read up on the Wagner Act.

You can't argue with video tape. The reality of your typical union member just doesn't match your delusions, does it?

Uhhhh......yep, that's correct. He's of the opinion that ALL Union members drink and smoke pot on the job and that ALL non-union workers are faithful, hard working employees. :eusa_hand:

The problem is....he probably never even met a union employee and knows nothing about them except from what he hears on FOX and Rush Limbaugh.

.
Obviously you listened to are currently listen to Limbaugh. If you do/did, you must have heard the name "Snerdley"....This is Bo Snerdley, Limbaugh's producer and call screener. Ever wonder why one never hears Snerdley's voice on the air?. Because if Snerdley gets on the air, AFTRA( American Federation of TV and Radio Artists) rules mandate Snerdley be paid a much higher rate just because his voice goes out over the air.
Snerdley would not be contributing anything more to the show. No more work is involved.
Just silly union rules. Snerdley is denied to have an opportunity to be on the air.
That's just stupid.

It's all a growing effort on this once great nation to get rid of all the unions...then the workers will be looking at big time pay cuts. Thats right. I GUARANTEE that once all the unions are gone that the average wage in this country goes down by at least, at least 25 percent......without any reprocussions. And the sheeple will stand for it and work harder for less. They cant figure it out.
OK that's YOUR opinion. Shall we move on?

And? We should all kneel at the union altar?
Look, unions served their purpose. They've become dinosaurs. It's over for them.

Oh puleeeeze..Cry me a fucking river.
Here's a newsflash. We did not "hire" public workers. Politicians do that. The problem with public sector unions is the people paying the wages do not get a seat at the bargaining table

What do you think "Right to work" laws are?

Right to work laws prevent the government from forcing you to join a union. They regulate government, not private contracts.

Nonsense. The "government" isn't "forcing" anyone to join a union, the contracts do.

Right to work laws regulate those contracts.

You keep parroting this. It has been addressed by myself as well as another poster already. If you have nothing to address the points already brought up then bow out otherwise, come up with something new.
