Its a tough call for Putin. A proxy war over Ukraine is draining on Russia's resources. But not to stop NATO's expansion means Belarus could be next. The thing is NATO is NOT "expanding" by capturing countries, countries are joining NATO because they fear Russia, like Finland and Sweden just joined in 2023. Ukraine is a sovereign country and they want to belong to the EU not Russia. We'll see how this all turns out.

I'm almost sure, that after WW3, all those post-NATO countries will tell us terrible stories that they were forced to join NATO against their will and without proper asking will of the people.

1. Britain just said that they would put "peacekeepers" in Ukraine if a ceasefire and peace deal is negotiated.

It means, that they just ruined any possibility of peace or even ceasefire. Ok. Let's fight until decisive victory (Russian decisive victory, of course).

2. War gaming a nuclear first strike is a very bad idea. Nothing ever happens as planned.

If the nuclear war is inevitable, then a first strike is definitely better than the second strike. Of course, its gambling, but the first strike is a Russian roulette game with one cartrige in six chambers, and second strike is six cartridges in six chambers - almost suicidal.

Besides, we don't want the US dragged into a nuclear war because of NATO commitments.

If you don't want it you should either keep your "partners" in a cage and don't allow them to do something really stupid, or just let them go, wash your hands and openly declare that they are not your responsibility anymore.

a) Are peacekeepers allowed in Ukraine, such as French, British, and other EU countries, but NOT under a NATO flag?

No. I mean, they can enter, but either Russian Federation Forces, either Russian rebels will eliminate them. Highly likely it will mean regional (therefore nuclear) war.

b) Either Putin keeps all the territory he occupies, or he just keeps Crimea & Donbas?

Its not about territories, but Russia will also take at least Odessa, Nikolayev, Kharkov and Dniepropetrovsk regions. For starters. What will be left of Ukraine should be denazificated (in the Russian understanding of the term).

c) Who keeps Kursk?

d) Ukraine will insist on EU membership, but not NATO membership

Neutrality means no membership in other alliances, especially unfriendly. Ukraine will be neutral, or won't exist at all.

e) No offensive missiles allowed in Ukraine seems like an obvious stipulation.

Like most people around the world, Zelensky has no understanding of the current condition of American politics.
