Trump's mineral deal provided right about NOTHING in terms of any actual security guarantees for Ukraine.

True... well not the EU.... it was Norway who in return bought 52 F-35's from us as the replacement for their aging F-16's... not sure how many we delivered to them but they haven't made any payments per their agreement... also Lockheed Martin has stopped production temporarily due to costs of materials... inflation touches everyone...

If you gave them more weapons (or gave them earlier) the only possible result would be an earlier Russian start of attacks against Ukrainian industrial infrastructure (or even attacks against 750kV electricity network). And for now Ukraine (as a state) would be in much worse situation, say nothing about much worse situation for the USA themselves.

The attacks happened anyway, and its accomplished nothing to further Russia's agenda. If the US had given them the weapons they needed earlier, they could have retaken much more territory back, maybe even all of it. Ukraine waited and waited and waited, meanwhile Russia dug in. What good are tanks when they've completely mined all of the captured territory. The only reason why Ukraine retook Izyum, Kherson and other major cities was because they got weapons quickly, without any political hang wringing from the US. They retook all those cities with just javelins, stingers, and himars. Imagine if the US had sent them a few hundred Bradleys at the same time as well, instead of 11 months after the war started.

If Putin is still demanding that, then we already know what his agenda is for the future. This is the whole point of Zelensky asking for a security guarantee! I don't understand why the pro Russia faction of Maga doesn't understand about this.
