Why weakens the nation by cutting social security and medicare? Makes zero sensr

Tax receipts in 2022 would have been much higher if huge taxes were raised on the rich, and if tax evasion was punished severely.
HUGE taxes on rich... tax evasion like this?
  • subverted the payroll and tax withholding process of his own company by withdrawing millions outside of the payroll and tax withholding process;
  • spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle rather than paying his tax bills;
  • in 2018, stopped paying his outstanding and overdue taxes for tax year 2015;
  • willfully failed to pay his 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 taxes on time, despite having access to funds to pay some or all of these taxes;
  • willfully failed to file his 2017 and 2018 tax returns, on time; and
  • when he did finally file his 2018 returns, included false business deductions in order to reduce the very substantial tax liability he faced as of February 2020.
And once again truly ignorant people like you make dumb ass comments WITH NO PROOF!
NOW for the FACTS!
Since your attention span is half what the average American's is at 8.5 seconds...
A) Dummies like you pay i.e. Bottom 50% of tax payers pay 2.3% top 5% pay 65% of Federal Taxes!
B) BUT dummies like you, i.e. the bottom 50% have nearly 10% of gross income.

They used to pay more
You tax where the money is
Obviously you fall in the category of ignorance about reality!

What does that have to do with the tax rate of the extremely wealthy ?

Try again

It wasn't discussed during the elections but does any one doubt SS is going to be put on the chopping block?

No way one usmb Republican will say they like and want to keep SS.

And if they want to at least tell us in 2019 so we can vote on it.

While there is always an option for that...
I think it's virtually impossible. Going after social security will create the largest one issue voting block in the history of US elections. Everybody knows that.

Wow! YOU truly don't get it do you?
Which group has the financial ability to move out of the country ? Duh!
Which group is most likely paying double taxations? I'm sure you don't know that fact!
Finally, which group is paid by the other group?
Which group pays 6.2% of the other group's SS/Medicare?
So ultimately which group pays the taxes of the other group?

Presidents should not be allowed to pardon anyone, and certainly not their relatives.

The overall tax burden is mildly progressive.

Like abortion? I think abortion proved to Republicans they'll get away with it. Plus they'll blame Democrats for it. And even if they lose an election, voters will forget. They'll be back in 2-4 years. They have the Supreme Court now so really anything more is just bonus.

What confuses me is the government right now is considering giving current social security recipients a big raise. Why would they do that if the programs going broke? Is it to break it that much sooner?

Nah.... Not even close. Go ahead try it with social security.... You'll get 100 million votes for the next Democratic presidential nominee.

I depends on how the phasing out is approached. Let's say, for example, we just allow people starting their careers to opt out. That wouldn't impact anyone who's paid in. It would just allow people to manage their own retirements instead of having the state do it for them.

It could possibly work if they have more money to cycle through the economy. I think it's a multiple level plan that will later on include a larger portion of the paycheck deduction also.

I make a pretty good paycheck and most weeks the social security take away as close to 300 bucks..... I don't have any objection to it because I see it as necessary.... It wouldn't surprise me if by the end of this second term that 300 goes up to 400.

Yeah that's the only approach you're going to get that will work.

cause they aren't bright? Is that really that hard to figure out genius?

I hope so but I am not going to bet on it happening.

Trump went on at great length about the supposed scourge of the Social Security Administration wrongly paying retirement benefits to people listed in the agency’s system as well over 100 years old.

“A lot of money is paid out to people because it just keeps getting paid and paid and nobody ― it really hurts Social Security and hurts our country,” Trump said. “1.3 million people from ages 150 to 159 and over 130,000 people, according to the Social Security databases, are over 160 years old. We have a healthier country than I thought.”

The super elderly Social Security recipients myth got debunked last month

The fact that Trump still plowed ahead with the bogus story in his address to Congress and said Social Security is full of “probable fraud” could be a bad sign for the popular retirement program
