What would be more effective than creating firebreaks, minimizing fuel, and tanker aircraft distributing 12,000 gallons of fire retardant?

I visualize an armada of hundreds of such planes attacking fires immediately as an overwhelming first response. Enough planes could have turned Palisade's into a swamp before a single home burned. The military has the planes and the pilots and can do such operations largely within the present budget.
I just watched a video of a four-hour training mission by two C-130s that dropped a 'cargo' of a single pallet of cardboard boxes on a target area then returned to their base. The airbase near where I hunt is always flying treetop-level training missions with C-130s over the forest. It's quite spectacular. What better 'training' than low-level water bombing.

Newsome gave it away when he said that the number of planes fighting the fires were "all that Air Traffic Control could handle". Apparently, they couldn't be bothered rerouting commercial planes and grounding civilian planes during firefighting operations.

The right are the same people who excused trumps unpreparedness for COVID-19 even as systems were created for him to deal with the pandemic that he destroyed. So, nobody wants to hear this right-wing garbage about California.
