The only way this happens is if you attack them every so often, or attack them and take out their regime.

And since the later is too expensive and has no political backing, it is the former.

But then eventually you will get people in office who do not have the political will to attack them at all, allowing them to have those weapons, at which point, they will use them.

But this talk about taking out Iran's infrastructure is puzzling, What does this accomplish exactly other than having the DNC try to impeach him over it after the midterms?

What it the damn problem with mutually assured destruction? Hell, let Iran get a nuke. Let them use it. Then we vaporize them. I mean how hard is that? Worked for damn over half century, why would it not work now?
