Faith in Jesus Christ, in God, comes from God alone. If He doesn't give it, you don't get it. If He doesn't give it, you can't produce it.

Many pretenders will say they have it, but they don't. And it doesn't take long to see that they don't.

And if you have it, it's not hard to believe. In fact, it is impossible to not believe.

Because people don't want to be accountable to anyone for their actions. People want to be their own "god." I get it, pretty much all believers were there once.

The bible puts it this way:

Most people dont believe in gods for the same reasons they dont believe in fairies and unicorns and leprechauns.

The question is better turned around: a lot of people probably believe in gods because they WANT there to be gods.

Not true. Fairies, unicorns, and leprechauns promise nothing. Leprechauns--if captured--like Aladdin, are said to be able to offer three wishes in exchange for freedom. God does not grant wishes. Many lives testify to God's existence.

Indeed, it takes nothing away from (Ephesians). The one who is truly seeking, is seeking because God is giving him that faith. Lots of people seek a god through various means. But they don't find the true God, the God of the Bible and Jesus Christ.

Only those to whom God has given that faith, truly seek Him and will knock, and it will be open to them. For God is the Originator of their faith.

What blocks me from believing is that I find the whole notion a bit silly.

It's not difficult to believe in God, what's difficult is when extremist of all denominations try to convince you that their version & belief system is the correct one.

The Catholic Bible contains over 35,500 verses. I am guesstimating that the verses that pertain to me number in hundreds. Even should that number reach a thousand, that means only about two percent of Biblical teaching is connected to my life. I can state what flows through my life and why I believe as I do. That being the case, I have no expertise on what, exactly, in the other 98% of Bible verses speaks into another's life.

Sure it is. Phobias are a prime example: There is evidence most of mankind can make it through the day despite a phobia that haunts one individual and has them taking drastic steps to avoid whatever it is they fear. People must have faith they can face their fears, that their way of living and their choices brings the best results for whatever they are seeking.

Have you looked at the most recent evidence found within the Shroud of Turin? Many have, and that evidence does not have many rethinking his/her position.
