Before the 2nd war, Britain had half of the world only official colonies, but in fact it had almost the whole world.
By about the 60s, she had lost almost everything.
Who could do it except the USA?
Nobody.
After McCarthy cleared out the agents of the left, the US waged a global shadow war with Britain, and they destroyed it.
The USSR also made a great contribution to this in the 50s, but then it was an ally of the United States (before Kennedy). Khrushchev was Eisenhower's henchman, there is no doubt about it.
In short, it was the US that destroyed Britain, no one else could do it.
