When will the Democratic Party move on from Trump?

Your title says, "Democratic party". So i responded in that context.

Leftist media covers stories on him nonstop
All media does. He just incited an insurrection as a sitting President and got impeached, all within the last 6 weeks. That's historical, international news. Now the story is what prosecutions of Trump are coming down the pike. Again, international news.
Acquitted. So why is he still in the News? When is it time to move on?

One of the reasons I voted for Trump in 2016 was the rhetoric. Suddenly if you voted for the man you were deemed racist. In fact after he won, Van Jones called it a "white lash". It was like some strange people were telling Independent voters and tax payers how to vote and why they should be ashamed not to vote Democrat.

Now, I frankly didn't pay much attention to politics until then but my kids were in school as they were 6 and 8 and I for the first time in my life noticed how far left many people are and how triggered they were. That prompted me to pay more attention and I did like Trump's policies on immigration, military and America First in terms of manufacturing and such. I also liked that he addressed corporate inversions.

After he won, an interesting benefit was how much he triggered leftists. After he lost in 2020, it was disheartening because the far left had won the culture war. Now we have to agree that gender is a social construct, that whites are racist, that America is systemically racist, that police officers are bad people and if you say anything contrary to that publicly you have the threat of cancel culture.

However, even though Trump lost, he continued to be top of mind to Democrats and to leftists around the country and here on USMB. It is almost as if the Democratic Party needs their villain to hide the problems they themselves have. So Trump continues to trigger leftists even though he is no longer President and has been banned from Twitter. So at what point does the Democratic Party move on from Trump?

I get that many left wingers were obviously put off by Trump’s bigotry, but I wasn’t for a very specific reason: he’s too much of a moron for me to care. He was always too stupid for me to take issue with it. I mean that’s how morons are. I was more concerned a moron was in office.

So why is he still in the News?
Because it just happened, because he is still more popular among GOP voters than the rest of the party combined, because he will possibly be the first exPresident to face criminal prosecution, and more. And more.
So you don’t believe it’s because he garnered ratings? You love to lie to yourself.

Right that’s so me.

So why did you elect an idiot who thinks it would be effective to inject bleach to kill viruses or that windmills cause cancer? Is it because you believe those things too?

None of that happened but you believe it because you’re a sheep who watches News Entertainment and buys everything they sell. You’re still a terrible guitar player. If I had your life I d join a monastery and take a vow of silence.

When will the Democratic Party move on from Trump?

They can't put down the Trump crack pipe...they're hooked to the nth degree.
Look no further than Mac1958 bizarre addiction for proof.
Yep! As I've said, Trump (and far more importantly, Trumpism) represents a historic moment in this nation's history. Not only is it is an absolutely fascinating psychological / historical / sociological / anthropological study, it's a terribly important cautionary tale.

The intense adoration and devotion to this troubled, damaged man must be analyzed carefully and thoroughly. We thought the world had learned from such destructive relationships in the past, but clearly we were wrong there. We must learn here.

So, to all the Trumpsters who constantly whine and moan about how much attention is being paid to this topic: Too bad. You sold your soul to this awful man, and we're going to examine and comment on it for a long time. You'll just have to live with it.
You do realize that you’re not a psychologist unless you’re pretending to be one now. So your opinion of him is just that. Your opinion. What is fascinating is you leftists trying to sound all noble and intelligent but coming off as pompous asses.
Well, yes. I'm certainly not a psychologist. But unlike those whose intellectual curiosity has calcified due to their TDS -- this would include you, obviously -- I maintain a healthy intellectual curiosity about people, societies and their behaviors.

See, what you clearly don't understand is that I consider people like you to be little more than a small, wet, wormy thing, wiggling around in my mental Petri Dish™ -- poke, observe, poke, observe. Flush.

That's your value to me. A curiosity. So, all your daily attempts to attack me and put me on the defensive merely serve to make me more and more curious about the emotional fragility that motivates you to engage in such behavior.

So, while you try so desperately to punch, I merely observe. It's always fascinating, and I do appreciate the free material you provide.
You are so easily triggered. Doers do. You’re just a passenger. Keep watching.
Yeah, you're really "doing". Humping some stranger's leg on an internet message board. Great job.

Solid Trumpian response there. Good stuff.

Your rhetoric is pretty extreme but not too accurate. Trump is working hard to remain in the headlines.

Actually, what was strange was that you guys passed over about 10 guys who would have made perfectly good Conservative Presidents and probably would have been a lot more effective. Jeb Bush, Christie, Kasich, Cruz, Rubio. They'd have advocated 90% of the same policies without the crazy tweets, the childish insults or the gross incompetence.

Now, I frankly didn't pay much attention to politics until then but my kids were in school as they were 6 and 8 and I for the first time in my life noticed how far left many people are and how triggered they were. You mean he pandered to the worst instincts instead of having honest conversations on how to improve our situation. Take Manufacturing. Now anyone who has worked in manufacturing can tell you that the biggest reason why we lost jobs in that sector is not because of outsourcing or the evil Chinese, it was because of automation and process improvement. We are producing more manufactured goods than we ever have in our history. But we are doing it with far less people, and most Americans really don't aspire to work in a factory to start with.

But that's too complicated. Much easier to just lie to coal workers and tell them their jobs are coming back, rather than levelling with them like Hillary did that coal is in decline and most of the extraction of it has been automated.

After he won, an interesting benefit was how much he triggered leftists. After he lost in 2020, it was disheartening because the far left had won the culture war. Gender is a social construct. Yes, we've made a lot of progress, but if you told someone 100 years ago, women could be engineers or soldiers, you'd have gotten a funny look from them. Most police officers are good people (even Biden has said this), but they need to do something about the bad apples who engage in bad behavior. And, yes, America is systematically racist. Has been since the very beginning when they decided that blacks were 3/5th of a white person.

However, even though Trump lost, he continued to be top of mind to Democrats and to leftists around the country and here on USMB. It is almost as if the Democratic Party needs their villain to hide the problems they themselves have. When the cocksucker is in prison, where he belongs. We need his businesses broken up and run out of business, we need to make an example of him so the next billionaire asshole who thinks, "I've got more money than God, I need to run for president even though I don't know anything about politics" thinks twice about it.

If not for COVID he wins.

Um, not really. Hey, check this out. Here's the Running RCP Average of polling of Biden vs. Trump. Biden was always averaging between 48-53% of the electorate, Trump was always averaging between 42 and 46. The end result was 51-47.

If anything, Biden had MORE of a lead in the polls before Covid hit, when he was in a dogfight with five other Democrats over who would be the best guy to go up against him.
