Zone1 What would Jesus do about the GOP plan?

“Faith without works is dead” - James 2:14-26.

You can’t crow away about Jesus dying for your sins but ignoring the kind of life he asked of you demonstrates that faith is alive. Without works faith is dead. Your body of works seems flimsy and may have you questioning your faith. I think you just like looking down on others and not the word of God.

Gator this is not difficult. If you were a Christian, you would have ABSOLUTELY said by now: Yes, absolutely, I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, died and buried and resurrected, etc.

So I'm going to give you a reminder: you might not want to drag Him around as a political prop if you even somewhat believe. You will be held to account for that.

Your premise presumes that The State should do the bidding of Jesus, as a twisted sort of proxy.

In just a few months, you'll be shitting chickens because of manger scene erected in front of city hall.

The money changers bit is an irrelevant deflection, something at which you excel.
Where do you stand on having the ten commandment and a bible in every classroom?

MAGA "Christians" have sold out their religion for politics. Who knows why. Maybe they got tired of waiting for Jesus to check back in.

Other MAGAs just use Christianity as an occasional weapon when it fits their political agenda.

But sincere Christians are horrified over what they're seeing. Understandable.

Yes I can. In fact, I am charged to "crow about Jesus". And so are you, if you're a Christian. Which seems doubtful at this point.

And we're not even talking about my works. We're talking about Jesus as your political prop.

You don't believe do you? You just like dragging Him around as a prop.
What are you even talking about? The basic tenet of Jesus' preachings is that He condemned outward displays of piety that masked inner corruption. He railed about prioritizing rituals and rules over genuine compassion and justice. That is a large portion of Christianity's failings today. The GOP guy in Texas who WROTE the abortion ban just was outed for 20 years of affairs and funding an abortion.

Christians today, generally, are more worried about other people than their own failings. People like you think they can claim "Since I believe Jesus died for ME I can be callous cruel and unloving without consequence". We will see. I dont think you are right about that.

Your inability to respect people who disagree with you polically,

is a weakness on your part.

Wow. YOu found one guy that failed to live up to his own standards.

That means that everyone who pushed moral standards is the same as that guy.

Wait. Run that by me again, and explain it more slowly please.

Because at first glance your point looks retarded.

25% of all giving goes to churches which about 85-90% is need to run the church. You go ahead and check the math.

presented without comparison to the operating cost of other charities.

That makes it fake news.

I told you I am Christian and indeed accept the basic tenets of it. I am not a goober who runs around spouting religious proclamations like it is a secret password into a weirdo club. I have been a Christian since birth, my mom plays the piano for her church, my dad sings in their choir, I told you I spent almost 10 years in Church leadership, all my kids and wife were baptized as adults or young adults, I teach Sunday school.. I have the credentials and the beliefs, I just generally dont run around like a peacock about it and I dont sit next to randos on planes and ask them if Jesus is their personal savior like a kook.

You can be a normal person and a Christian.

Take a step back and look at what you are doing. Seeing a large, ready-made group you want them for your own use and purpose. In the past, that's how armies were built. Someone said, "We need a large group--let's manipulate that already formed Christian community. Let's manipulate them into believing they are doing it for God. Let's shame them.

You want socialized medicine. You see a large Christian community and think, Let's manipulate them into socialism by telling them God wants them to help the poor and elderly. You use the same method thinking you will shame them into socialism.

Capitalism can also provide what people need. We need to stop restricting the number of students who want to be doctors. With government out of the picture, capitalists with good ideas can see a need and provide for that need instead shrugging and saying, "Let's build a bigger government." Christians are already good at seeing those in their lives that need a hand and lending a hand. Not only that, Christians are great at also providing for the spirit as they tend to physical needs.

You lose the argument when you assume American liberals want socialism. There are several parts of our society that leads itself to a community solution.

Roads for instance. Roads are not private and capitalist funded so people can get to stores. No. They are publicly funded. We are all good with that, right?

Schooling is hybrid right? There is a public and private option. That is the model we are using. Its not capitalist driven by companies that want educated workers. Its a public service.

Healthcare is another one of those services that requires a public solution. Its a special industry like roads and schooling. When life and death are the product it cant be a capitalist driven system so some sort of solution is needed. Its not that hard. Its not like liberals want the goverment to communally own a whole bunch of shit. But a public option for healthcare is needed.

I am guessing Jesus wouldnt be railing against the slippery slope of socialism by providing healthcare to those who cant afford it.

Right. As I said.

“Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven."--Matthew 10:32

You have missed it entirely. I'm very sorry for it. But I did my part

You missed the point of it. It isnt about peacocking around and acting better than everyone else. Its about not denying your faith because you are scared of the consequences.

Dems have a marxist as the probable next Democrat mayor of New York City

15th post
This thread is whether or not a self proclaimed follower of Jesus can Biblically support throwing 17M people off Medicaid. The immediate need of some rando you know isnt really on point.
And it’s an idiotic premise. Render to Caesar.

I mean. The democrats have had lots of platforms and NONE of them have suggested a socialist conversion of the country.

You can’t get more centralized than communism and look how well that worked.
Right. Geniuses know that there is zero room between a free for all society and a communist hardline regime. You are all over it Einstein. Shit.. no one practices communism anyway. They are all just authoritarian right wing governments masquerading as communist.
