Treason against the Commonwealth of Virginia for attempting to incite an insurrection.

And if for some reason he had been acquitted of that, he then would have faced charges for the attack on the US Armory and Arsenal at Harper's Ferry. Which likely would have seen him shot by the Army as that was Federal Property and under the jurisdiction of the Army.

The Federal Government simply did what it still mostly does to this day. Let the local authorities get their "pound of flesh", then if there is anything left afterwards they then take their own. Especially in cases like this where multiple crimes were done, so the risk of "Double Jeopardy" does not exist.
John Brown was a Patriot fighting for Freedom and Liberty

Now you see why the OP is wrong. The CSA literally attacked Federal property and US troops.

I could not care why the OP was wrong or not.

I am only pushing history, I have absolutely zero interest in pushing an agenda. Or trying to force people to change their beliefs.

In the end, it very much was a Civil War, just like the English Civil War. And all who died on both sides were Americans.

To be absolutely honest, I find the very concept that many are doing of dragging up over 150 year old hatreds and trying to bring them back to life about as stupid as the posthumous execution of Oliver Cromwell.

John Brown was a terrorist, who was slaughtering innocents long before his raid. Try looking up "Bleeding Kansas".

One of the incidents was in response to something I mentioned earlier, the beating of Charles Sumner. Old John Brown was enraged at that when he got the telegram of the attack on 22 May, and the next night on 23 May started on a "Private Expedition" against those he believed to be slave supporters. Attacking two homesteads and hacking to pieces the adult males inside.

And kidnapping one, a 16 year old who they considered executing as well, but ultimately in the end they let him go.

He was a radical who was willing to kill anybody who he thought stood in his way.

Exactly. It is the past.

Yes, there has always been a difference of people in the North and South. During the making of the Constitiution in 1787 both sides would claim this. The people were different, their interests were different. And slavery would be the issue that both centered on that proved those differences.

The North, especially that New England bunch, always feared the growth of territories. They knew that new states would be carved out of them. They knew that these new states would not have the same interests as New England. In other words they would lose control.

War was the only recourse for New England. They must conquer the South and dictate who would be new states in the west. Power, money, control. Slavery was just the WMD of the day. And so they did.

But whatever happens, make sure the South fires the first shot, that way we, the North, can sit on our righteous throne as the good people defending the flag and freedom. Glory, glory...hallelujah.

The First Republican President Sent Americans Off to Kill Their Fellow Americans on Behalf of Africans

They could have let the North take the territories in the West, and let the South annex the islands in the Caribbean (which was Monroe's original doctrine). Also, let the South count their African dependents as 100% instead of three-fourths.

As in Vietnam, the ruling class instead chose war in order to kill off or take the fight out of the bravest sons of the Northern working class.

I will restate. At the time of the Civil War, slavery was illegal except in these states:
Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
Interstate Commerce

The Dred Scott decision made it legal everywhere. The rulers try to make it sound like a Southerner could only bring his servants on a temporary visit up North.

Don’t give a shit
He was going to be hung anyway

Like Nathan Hale, he was hung for doing what was right
Our nations slave policies were not right

John Brown was a Patriot fighting for Liberty
Freeing slave was more about Liberty than what our Founding Fathers fought for

Oh yes you do, which is why you don't want to answer.

What was the charge against Brown for which he was hung by neck until dead?

Exactly right. John Brown was found guilty of 'treason'. A traitor. A yankee attacking the South with yankee support was convicted of treason.

Now, if John Brown was guilty of treason, those who supported him and conspired with him were equally guilty....correct? I mean when they killed John Wilkes Booth, they went after the conspirators also....correct? They hung them also...correct?

So where were all those hangings of the yankee co-conspirators with John Brown taking place?

Quantrill

Exactly. It is the past.

Of course...don't let the white Southernor bring up and correct the damnyankee about the past.

Just let the blacks bring up the past in order to play the victim and be able to tear down the Souths flags and monuments. So stupid.

You are welcome to post it

I don’t care
John Brown is an American Patriot

I want you to say it. I'm not asking you to lie. I'm asking you to tell the truth. And you choke on it.

Oh yes you care, which is why you crawfish.

Quantirll

Brown, like those who attempted secession, acted violently and illegally.
