"We have to increase taxes on the wealthy"

We hire our politicians to do what we want. To spend money on us and not to charge us for it.

We get the politicians we deserve. They are just doing what we want.

It's time to stop blaming them and look in the mirror for the culprit.

Why do so many people seem to love tax increases on others? Pathetic. The problem is overspending, not under-taxation.

Politicians never met a dollar they didn't want to spend. In fact, for every dollar they get, they want to spend two. 36 trillion dollar debt? Never mind, just raise taxes so we can spend more money. To hell with the debt.
That's why just raising taxes on "the rich" won't do diddly squat for the budget. The only thing it would do is make some people feel good that they stuck it to some guy they don't know and never met.

I really have no answers in that regard other than scrapping the reams of tax code and going with a fair/flat tax.

We have plenty of revenue but a totally dysfunctional .gov as far as spending goes.

In other words:

But, but, but, you have to punish successful people, cause you know fairness!

We must CUT SPENDING to 16% of the GDP.

That will allow 1% of the GDP to pay off the debt. Interest payments are now 13% of the budget ane rising.

It is either that or a Global RESET.

In world wide terms, you are in the top 1% if you earn over $32,000 a year

Not surprised.

. . . . there were, after all, rumors.

"Bannon allegedly told a NYU academic"

Corroboration of this story: none. Do you guys have any idea what sourcing or journalism is?

Neither end of the spectrum is willing to do that, of course. The rest of the country has to deal with the tug of war.

I know that a binary approach is nice 'n simple 'n stuff.

But dumbing things down like that, pretending that everything is nice 'n simple, is not an intelligent way to address complicated problems. If you can't even admit that this is a complicated topic in a huge and dynamic country like this, you're delusional.

And yet mac1958 has a simple answer

If we all would just forget our differences and get along what a wonderful country this would be

What could be simpler?
