USMB Coffee Shop IV

Yesterday morning I had to drive to the VA clinic across from the Intel plant in Rio Rancho to see my Ortho. He works there one day a week and was the quickest appointment I could get. Both my heavily damaged shoulders have been acting up so much so I couldn't do my lite weight training. Bone spurs and arthritis has been playing havoc with them. So a cortisone shot in each shoulder and I'm back to lifting light weights again. Of course one of the side affects that get me is temporary insomnia........ Didn't get much sleep last night.......
Hmm. Sleep or incapacitating pain. Not much of a choice there.

Yesterday I had the plumbers out, the copper water feed line to the swamp cooler apparently still had enough water in it over the winter to freeze and burst. $160 later............. Wasn't expecting that, good thing I have at least a small reserve for emergency repairs.
One of the negatives of those of us on limited retirement budgets are those unexpected expenses like that. And they are an inevitable fact of life when you own your own home, vehicle and such.

I sometimes envy my Aunt Betty who no longer has any real property or vehicles or anything like that to maintain and lives in an assisted living facility where her every need is provided other than her clothes and toiletries and such which she can easily afford. No surprises.

One thing I'm looking into is a much smaller house. At home I nearly live in my office/entertainment/hobby room (a bedroom actually). I think my house is around 1150 SF (not including the 2 car garage) and it's way too much. I could probably get away with half of that as long as I have at least a small garage/workshed. I'm still slowly working on getting rid of most of my stuff as it's basically unneeded and unused anyway. I'm planning on accelerating the process as I lose more weight and become more active.

When was auto correct installed......and why.......wont let me purposely misspell something anymore
I still manage to mangle some posts though. What frustrates me is autocorrect is so demanding on my phone it sometimes will not let me type in the word I want to use at all no matter how correctly I spell it.

We too have been downsizing but it's really tough when both of us are natural packrats. We do have some minor issues when he thinks my stuff is expendable and his isn't and vice versa. :)

We could make do with a smaller place--we're a tad over 2000 sq ft--but other than one bedroom that is strictly a guest bedroom that we don't want to give up because we do get out of town company, we do live in the whole house. Admittedly we do spend most of our time in the office during the day--the living room at night. But I do use my kitchen a lot and the enclosed back porch is essential as a pantry and storage.

But when one of us goes, the other will have to downsize to a smaller property or make other arrangements.

By the way did your brother/family get over the difficulties or. . .

Haven't talked with him in quite a while, I'm terrible with the passage of time, I tend not to pay attention to it. That said I just left him a message, thanks for the reminder.

So the wife is going thru some of the daughters toys she had bought when they were little, she found 2 Barbies still in the box. One is worth 10 grand and the other about 5......
Wow. If I could find buyers that would pay that, I would sell them so fast. Or maybe get more on Ebay?

Wife would probably give it to the daughters. Oldest married someone deeply in debt and the youngest is on full ride in college so she only works on Saturday

LOL, I'd find the person that would pay that and they would be SOLD.
Same here. The problem would be deciding if I got to keep the money or if it rightfully belonged to my daughters. LOL

I suppose if we never gave them to the daughters they would be ours?

But I believe this was your first post in the Coffee Shop Concerned American so welcome welcome. Read over the OP to see what we're all about in here and keep right on joining in. :)

First timers receive a complimentary beverage (mostly as insurance to me that I properly greeting somebody :) ) and since it is a gorgeous warm spring day here, I'll make it something exotic:

Wow!, Eight hours sleep with only one interruption potty break in between.......... My body doesn't know what to do with itself...... :D
Woo hoo. Most of these young whipper snappers can't relate to that. They have no idea what a blessing a good night's sleep can be for some of us.

I don't know Foxy...I'm 50 and I think I'm a "young whipper snapper" in the Coffee Shoppe.
It's all relative Montro. To those on Social Security and Medicare you are definitely a young whipper snapper. For the 20 and 30 year olds you're an old timer. :)

But how do you sleep at night?

10 hour last with one break. Been more and more of those since using Ozempic. I was dying two years ago, and once the wastage was slowed down, I am so much better.

Many have complaints, and I don't doubt it. But, for me, this was heaven sent.

I love a full night's sleep.

I am glad for you, Foxfyre et al.

Super. It is such a blessing to find a treatment that helps us get over or live more comfortably with what ails us.
