USMB Coffee Shop IV

Went to AI.

Let's break it down step by step:

  1. Multiplication first: -25 \times 0 = 0
  2. Addition: 50 + 50 + 0 + 2 + 2
So, the calculation becomes:

50+50+0+2+2=10450+50+0+2+2=104
The answer is 104. 😊
But is that the correct way to solve it? That's what I am not enough mathematician to know.

PEMDAS. Parentheses, exponents, multiplication/division, addition/subtraction. It’s the order of operations. I see these sorts of questions on social media a lot.
There can be some confusion because a lot of the time, they are written ambiguously or incorrectly, but this one seems pretty straightforward.

Well I regard you as one of our mathematical wizards Montro, so I'll take your word for it. :)

By the way everybody, I am a dedicated Trekkie, a least for the first two series, and also a dedicated Star Wars Trilogy fan. (Never got into the later stuff.) But today is STAR WARS DAY. And I can recall at least some dialogue to go with almost every image in this photo:

I always hated long-division.....which is basically not even needed if you have a calculator.

But when I was a kid they didn't even let us use sliderules.
LOL

I still remember that scene in the movie "Apollo 13" when the Astronauts were frantically moving into the LMM as a 'lifeboat' before losing power in the command module. And they had to recalibrate the math for the computer. Jim Lovell asked Mission Control to check his math for that. The next scene was all the engineers at Mission Control using slide rules to check the math and confirming its accuracy.

Notwithstanding that it was remarkable they all HAD slide rules available to check the math, I had to think that if I had to use a slide rule to do anything, it probably would never get done. I don't have a clue how to use one.

So I woke up and my dog is laying on the back patio covered in dirt with a rabbit in his mouth. The rabbit's not bloody, just dirty. My neighbor's kids raise blue ribbon rabbits. I instantly knew it was one of theirs.

I took the rabbit away from my dog, rushed inside, and washed all the dirt off it before my neighbors could come home. It was stiff but I heard some animals play dead when they are afraid but I couldn't remember which ones. I took it and placed it back in one of the cages in their back yard then I ZOOMED back home. (Don't judge me)

Not 30 minutes later I hear my neighbors screaming so I go out and ask them what's wrong? They tell me their rabbit died three days ago and they buried it but now it's back in the cage.

(If this isn't true, it ought to be. :) )

15th post
Does anybody know anything about beautress? She hasn't posted since I think last November and used to rarely miss a day posting in the Coffee Shop. I hope she's okay.

And Hossfly, are you still on the mend? We've missed you.

And boedicca, how is it going for you? You and Mr. Boe were major stressed when you last posted here.

I'm sure there are others among the missing. Some I know have moved on to other forums and though I miss them, I wish them well.

I can seriously relate to this one as somebody who frantically looks for her phone while she's talking on it. LOL

Speaking of....... Woke up this morning after 7.5 hours of sleep (with two wakeups in between). Got the coffee started, sat down and powered up the computers then promptly fell asleep in my chair.......... Woke up about an hour later, the coffee was still hot and not too bad.
