USMB Coffee Shop IV

I always hated long-division.....which is basically not even needed if you have a calculator.

But when I was a kid they didn't even let us use sliderules.
.

Let me tell you something about mathematics. I used to date a mathematician who worked for Boeing. On a weekend camping trip, I brought my dominoes, at his request, so I could teach him how to play. Tried all day on Saturday and he gave up.

Was he lying when he said he was a mathematician?

Who knows.
He obviously wasn't a genius.

I spent a lot of time playing Spades when I was in the Navy. All those days out at sea.

I got to the point I always won. I usually I knew my team mate's hand by the 5th book. But I'm the last person you'd want to ask to do math.

Hi.

Mind if I pull a late night in here? I'll help myself to a ginger ale.

I've got way too much on my mind.
Absolutely and help yourself to anything in the fridge. Always a pleasure when you drop by TK. :)

Okay my friend. Pretty cleverly funny okay? But way WAY too political for the Coffee Shop. We try to keep everything very nonpolitical in here as well as avoiding a few other topics that are always going to be controversial.

But I didn't find you on our roster so this must be your first visit here. And we're happy you decided to visit. Hope you choose to stay and keep right on joining in.

First timers receive a complimentary beverage and since it's Derby Day:

That's a fact. Our high school senior took the entire engine in his 1964 Mustang apart and put it back together. He had no automotive experience prior to that. He made only one mistake--we had a good friend knowledgeable in that stuff who helped him correct that.

We found that car at an unbelievably good price for an old car in very good condition and bought it for our son for his 16th birthday. He drove it all through college and sold it for many times what we paid for it.

This looks very much like that car:

Along those same lines, my husband on a whim bought a 3-year old Cadillac deVille from a hot tar roofer for $1,500. The car was spotted badly with hot tar on the interior--seats, floors, headliner, everywhere--and the guy said that was all the dealership would allow him on a trade in. So he he sold it to Hombre for that. I spent hours and hours cleaning the tar out of that car until I had it looking pretty darn good. And drove the wheels off it traveling all over western Kansas as needed for my job with the Episcopal Diocese of Western Kansas. (No I was not Episcopalian but they never held that against me. :) )

Five years later we sold it, still in very good condition but with a lot more mileage on it. for I think $3,500. That was the cheapest transportation we will likely ever have. :)

Okay I've been pondering this but I'll admit my math skills are rusty in complex math if I ever had the skill to solve this problem.

Most people on social media are saying the answer is 4 or 104.

What do you say?

Went to AI.

Let's break it down step by step:

  1. Multiplication first: -25 \times 0 = 0
  2. Addition: 50 + 50 + 0 + 2 + 2
So, the calculation becomes:

50+50+0+2+2=10450+50+0+2+2=104
The answer is 104. 😊
