But, New York state is mostly red and California is mostly red if you look at a county by county map. So, one could argue that these states are not blue, only the cities are blue.I don't think so. People in blue states can move to red states (and they already are doing just that). People in red states can move to blue states if they wish (lots of welfare blacks in cities wanting to keep their checks coming in)

I won't try to explain anything Democrats do, they're as fucked up as the Republicans. But I don't think our country will thrive as a "gated community". Our country was built on waves of immigrants, seeking freedom and opportunity. They aren't seeking socialism. They know better. They've lived it.
And the irony that blows right by you is that these are the very people to keep the flame of liberty alive, because they know what it's worth. Part of the problem, culturally, in this US is that we've lost that fresh blood and people have become complacent and entitled. That's what breeds socialism. Not people desperate for work and freedom.
The blue states will declare war on the red.There simply is no room at all in red state America for Democrats. There can be no compromise. We have had enough. Democrats have GOT TO GO, and the sooner the better. The US map must change, with red states being one country. Blue states being another.
