Your post made me think back to the civil war where we had two hugely different opinions on things, enough for the South to secede from the country and the North thinking that instead of just letting them do it and good riddance to you, they thought the country as a whole was worth fighting for. Makes me wonder, are we even more separated from each other now than we were back then? I don't really know the answer to that question.

If you look at voting by county, it’s easy to make the split. Only counties with large cities in them voted for Biden. Even in California, most counties voted for Trump.

It’s funny how the parties have flipped, once the republicans were the party of the rich, not the working man, now the democrats are the party of the rich and government dependent and the republicans are the party of the working man.

This is no basis for splitting into two countries. What would be the point, even if it were feasible? We've always had a two-party system. Whatever it is that you feel deprived of, which remains unexplained, all the rest of us live under the same conditions. In every election, people have the right to vote for any candidate they want, regardless of where they live. The higher the population density is, the more voters there are there. It makes no sense to contend that the votes of a county with 4,000 voters in it and a lot of open space should outweigh the votes of a county with 40,000 people in it.

It also makes no sense to be angry at people just because they didn't vote for your favorite candidate. Candidates have to sell themselves and their policies and proposals to the voters.

Remember that trump did not win a majority of the popular vote in 2016, but those of us who did not vote for him had to tolerate him for four years because the electoral college said so. Your situation is the same as ours was.

I really think in 2024 they should put up Tim Scott and Niki Haley in either order. Let the Democrats try running against a black man and a woman who isn't even technically white. They would have no idea how to campaign. It would be a slam dunk.
