What if they're not a person, what if they're a Mexican? The Constitution makes no distinction. All “persons” deserve due process
Nope, doesn’t say that at all. Why did the other presidents not do that? The Constitution makes no distinction. All “persons” deserve due process
What does it say as far as habeas corpus etc?Nope, doesn’t say that at all. Why did the other presidents not do that?
Lincoln suspended it, so can Trump. What does it say as far as habeas corpus etc?
What?I love Trump's honesty. That is a very rare trait.
It seems biased. Was he responding to the question, or was it more of a reflection of the very real constitutional gray areas that have emerged from decades of muddled immigration enforcement and judicial overreach? Another media edit to change the narrative, just like we saw with the Kamala interviews? Regardless, Trump is doing what he was elected to do ..Trump, asked if he has to ‘uphold the Constitution,’ says, ‘I don’t know’
President Donald Trump argued in an interview with NBC News’ “Meet the Press” that fulfilling his ambitious campaign promise to rapidly carry out mass deportations may take precedence over giving immigrants the right to due process under the Constitution, as required by courts.
A central part of Trump’s agenda has been implementing the “largest deportation operation” in U.S. history, as he vowed during the 2024 campaign. In service of that goal, his administration has pressed the courts to allow the immediate removal of immigrants it accuses of being members of a Venezuelan gang, without giving them a chance to plead their case before a judge.
He may be dumb as a doorknob, but he knows he is supposed to uphold the Constitution. What he's really saying is, "I don't know" if my base will continue to support me if I keep breaking the law.
There should be no question about that. More importantly, he shouldn't want to find out if they will or they won't (they will, and already have).
We don't elect prez's to violate the Constitution, we elect them to defend it. It's in the oath of office. When they ignore their oath, America, the citizenry, the institutions, and the Congress, are called upon to rise up and throw the prez out of office. The Founders put mechanisms in place to do so.
But only works if a vast majority of Americans demand it. trump's base, they are enabling his lawlessness by their passive acquiescence. They are emboldening him to publicly say he does not have to obey the laws.
We told trump fans this would happen. It's happening. WHAT WILL YOU DO ABOUT IT?
He knows his job better than most folks. What?
That he “honestly” doesn’t know the basics of his job?
You appreciate that sort of honesty?
Still haven’t answered my question, why didn’t any other president do it?What does it say as far as habeas corpus etc?
Not if he didn’t know upholding the constitution is one of his primary responsibilities…..He knows his job better than most folks.
Wasn’t the questionNot if he didn’t know upholding the constitution is one of his primary responsibilities…..
He was asked if he has to uphold the constitutionWasn’t the question
It says that you are brain dead. What does it say as far as habeas corpus etc?
What time in the video? He was asked if he has to uphold the constitution
His answer was “I don’t know, I have lawyers for that”
If that’s wrong, then explain how it’s wrong
The Constitution doesn't say what you liberals think it says. Not if he didn’t know upholding the constitution is one of his primary responsibilities…..
Correct. But WW was yapping about 5 and 14th amendment Due process. That is not the due process illegals get when they are being deported.Bearing in mind that two year rule you and I previously discussed.
And I still say that it’s not “do not have due process rights.” I just note that what’s due (in such circumstances) is pretty minimal.
The due process we graciously give illegals being deported is not in the Constitution. The Constitution makes no distinction. All “persons” deserve due process
