You have “grandpa” in your phone…they have that number. Now they can correlate that number to someone else who might have that person’s name. Now they know who your grandpa is with phone number. What if your grandfather is an important perosn in some way. This can be used for blackmail, intelligence…whatever. No protection from US privacy laws.

This is just an example, not even close to an exhaustive discussion of how it is not great for the CCP to know all your shit. It is amazing for them to use TikTok to sway opinions in the US by manipulating their algorithms as well.
