TikTok is essentially banned. Will Trump show he's pro-China by getting rid of the ban?

"TikTok is set to be banned in the US on 19 January after the Supreme Court denied a last ditch legal bid from its Chinese owner, ByteDance."

"Can Trump overturn the ban?"

"Trump may once have sought to ban TikTok - but he has repeatedly indicated during 2024 that he is now firmly against the law, and tried unsuccessfully to get it delayed."

Trump was opposed to TikTok,

"In July 2020, then-President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, "As far as TikTok is concerned, we’re banning them from the United States." The next month, he signed an executive order seeking to ban the app."

Then he took money from a guy who makes lots of money in China.

And all of a sudden his view on TikTok (which, ironically, is banned in China, so why does China not want it banned?) changed and he doesn't want to TikTok to be banned.

Having a president that will do anything to not anger China.... hmm.... is that what MAGA wanted?

They do have their version. Its by ByteDance as well, I think. I think they don´t want to have all the "challenges" and other things people do in the world. I just read a news that they make their own explosives for a new TikTok challenges in Ukraine and end up in hospitals.

Trump is going to have Tik Tok put under American control... maybe he and Musk will buy it....

China is making noise that they would sell to Musk... that's because they know Musk could create a better Tik Tok....

He'll only lift the ban if it is sold to a US buyer. To think he'd do that while it is in Chinese hands is stupid.

You could do without the unintelligent facetiousness.

Bullshit. He's talking about getting rid of the ban without it changing hands.

"Trump opposes the TikTok ban taking effect, his lawyers said in a recent court filing, and the president-elect asked, “Why would I want to get rid of TikTok?” on Truth Social, posting a graphic that boasted his popularity on the platform and the billions of views his official accounts and hashtags associated with him have garnered."

Why would anyone sell TikTok when they have a Chinese agent in the White House?

Before Trump uttered one word on this, what was your take on Tic Tok?

I hate TikTok, it's going to cause huge amounts of problems.

It's banned in China, for a reason, because the Chinese don't like the lack of control to stop people posting things that cause problems to society.

You are aware of the TikToc like app called "Rednote?"

It is wholly owned by the Chinese government and has 4 times the users that TikTok has.

Available to US Citizens.

Are you aware that both TikTok and Rednote show to different alorithms depending on what country you reside in?

For most of the world, it is brain dead liberal OF wannabes dancing and acting like fool.

In China, it shows primarily educational reels and no sex at all.

All I know is that TikTok is advertising big time here in my doomed country. There is a huge poster next to me currently.
A lot of young people are moving to a different site... the problem is it is also run by China... believe me you don't want China to have your personal information...
I wish people would understand that....

I hate that I am forced to use it. Just not right to force everyone to use it.
