TikTok is essentially banned. Will Trump show he's pro-China by getting rid of the ban?

A lot of young people are moving to a different site... the problem is it is also run by China... believe me you don't want China to have your personal information...
I wish people would understand that....
I don´t think they are after our personal information. They can do nothing with it. It is just money making.
However, TikTok is a toxic app where obnoxious companies sell beauty OPs to children, where deadly challenges are promoted. That needs to stop.

Bullshit. He's talking about getting rid of the ban without it changing hands.

"Trump opposes the TikTok ban taking effect, his lawyers said in a recent court filing, and the president-elect asked, “Why would I want to get rid of TikTok?” on Truth Social, posting a graphic that boasted his popularity on the platform and the billions of views his official accounts and hashtags associated with him have garnered."

Why would anyone sell TikTok when they have a Chinese agent in the White House?
Your facetiousness really is a turnoff you know.

First he's a Russian agent, now a Chinese agent.

Can't get your story straight can you guys?

Spare me.

"President-elect Trump hinted that he will decide the platform's future after the congressional law was upheld.

"The Supreme Court decision was expected, and everyone must respect it," Trump wrote on Truth Social."

"TikTok is set to be banned in the US on 19 January after the Supreme Court denied a last ditch legal bid from its Chinese owner, ByteDance."

"Can Trump overturn the ban?"

"Trump may once have sought to ban TikTok - but he has repeatedly indicated during 2024 that he is now firmly against the law, and tried unsuccessfully to get it delayed."

Trump was opposed to TikTok,

"In July 2020, then-President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, "As far as TikTok is concerned, we’re banning them from the United States." The next month, he signed an executive order seeking to ban the app."

Then he took money from a guy who makes lots of money in China.

And all of a sudden his view on TikTok (which, ironically, is banned in China, so why does China not want it banned?) changed and he doesn't want to TikTok to be banned.

Having a president that will do anything to not anger China.... hmm.... is that what MAGA wanted?
If we keep it, the U.S. part of their business will be owned and run by a U.S. company. It's already in the works. Dems are just insane at this point.

Are you kidding?.... if we ever get into a shooting war with China they can do a lot of damage financially and in other ways to the US population... not to mention they could zero in on people who work in our intelligence community and even the Pentagon...
When the Supreme court justices all agree I take notice...

Trump is going to have Tik Tok put under American control... maybe he and Musk will buy it....
Foolish venture, because Americans have been brainwashed (the younger generation), to hate anything involving Trump and Musk. The exodus to RedNote is evidence of the brainwashing of young Americans who are so addicted to social media and these media apps, that they would sell this country out over the bull chit. We have a huge problem that is only getting worse every year that we have Democrat's and Rhino's undermining the security of this nation in their schemes to make money from it all.

The take over of mom and pop resteraunts across America, otherwise in this replacement of them with these corporate chains, is already showing up to be a major mistake this country has since made.

Social engineering and DEI has entered into everything, and it is giving us the most unproffesional, sad and sometimes nasty, unreliable, and non-quality services that we could have never imagined concerning the quality of the people who are serving us our FOOD in these places.

Mom and pops resteraunt's were way better because they had to be top notch or be replaced by the competition who would take it up a notch if they smelt weakness at the other location down the road. Corporations aren't worried about anything like that, otherwise as far as competition goes (they overpowered the competition and sadly with government help), and so we end up the abused victim's after empowering corporate America who in turn betrayed us after the foolish empowerment of corporate row took place.

Sort of like the Japanese or other car companies from abroad are operated in the U.S. right ?

Are you sure you didn't mean pro-1st amendment? What other amendments do you consider a threat to our security? I think all of them are suspect.

America doesn’t ban Al Jezeera, why would it ban TikTok?

Are you still a foreigner with no legal status in America?

If so stay out of our domestic affiars

Haven't seen Al-jezeera in quite sometime anywhere, are you sure it isn't banned ?? Of course I stopped using or watching cable news network's or public TV many year's ago now, so it would be easy for me to miss it these days.

The first amendment says you have freedom of speech and you can't be locked up for saying whatever you want.

If you said that TikTok must be a first amendment issue, then you're saying that A) if you prevent me from going in your house at 2am and shouting in your face that you're an idiot, then you're pretending me from having freedom of speech and B) that China has first amendment rights....

Trump's TikTok ban reversal comes after meeting megadonor who has stake in TikTok

As Donald Trump reverses his position on potentially banning TikTok ahead of an expected House vote this week on legislation that could lead to it being blocked in the U.S., the former president has been rebuilding his relationship with a GOP megadonor who reportedly has a major financial stake in the popular social media platform.

Trump met with the donor, hedge fund manager Jeff Yass, earlier this month at a Club for Growth donor retreat in Palm Beach, Florida, on March 1.

The Club for Growth, a conservative political organization to which Yass has donated millions of dollars, has opposed anti-TikTok efforts.

The group's president last year wrote: "Giving the government the power to ban apps and pick and choose between competing apps is a huge restriction on phone freedom."

Corruption right out in the open.

You don't have to use tik tok, that is your choice. No one forces you to do anything. You want others' rights to be denied, big difference there, although I don't think you can understand that. If your concern is about misinformation, you need to look at your own inputs, which also need to be approved by the FCC. How is that working out for you?

That's the thing I love about Trump. He's too stupid to do the nuanced corruption of regular politicians. The establishment Dems and Reps will say we need to ban Tik Tok because it's a dangerous Trojan horse by the Chinese government to steal our data (as Nancy Pelosi does a tik tok video), and it just so happens as a coincidence that all these billionaire donors of ours are interested in buying this very popular app that would see it safely out of Chinese control. Trump is like naw... I met with a donor and he's invested so maybe we need to take a second look at this.... :lmao:

You know the legislation requiring the sale of TikTok was passed in an overwhelmingly bipartisan manner, right? Cuz there are legit national security concerns. Something Dotard never mentions when he speaks on the issue.

Moreover, this kind of creepy propaganda is also of concern.

The effect of Shou Zi Chew crawling up Don's ass is millions of people seeing Chew kiss the ring in the kind of submissive fashion the Orange Insurrectionist most enjoys.

Yep, and the MAGA lot can't (or won't) see it.

The problem is that TikTok is a hugely powerful tool, and China manipulates it.

Simple as.

Why do you think TikTok is banned in China? Banned by the very people who own the damn thing.

I'm not sure if it's that or whether it's he knows The Following doesn't care about his corruption. And if they start to care he'll lie about it so many times they will come to believe the lie.
