This is how he weakens us.

Did you hear they got that atlanta cops step mother fired?
Her mouth got her fired. She had a position of authority and used her position for spreading her opinions on a sensitive topic which made her underlings feel pressured and uncomfortable.
No scum like you got her fired.
Friday means the weekend is here. What makes you so miserable? The woman's employer explained why they let her go. She broke under pressure and became a troublemaker.

Her job would have been to advise the President and nothing else. If she is incapable of giving the President advice that he is confident of, she isn't able to do the job.

The President's Trust is the most important factor.
No, actually it isn't. Because implicit in your statement is the assumption that the President is making judgements that put America first. Trump doesn't do that.

What he wants from advisers is to have his beliefs affirmed. The role of advisers is to provide the President with the unvarnished truth. Sometimes that requires advisers to tell the prez he is wrong. Trump wants nothing to do with people like that.

I implore supporters of the President to get out of your collective defense crouch for just a moment.

Not that it isn't understandable for you to be in one. I have no doubt you feel besieged by the constant need to defend Trump from criticism. And in so doing to defend your judgement as to who is best suited to lead the country.

I'm asking that you set aside the reflexive impulse to chalk this post up to another attack on the man you chose to fill that leadership role. In other words, don't take it personally. Just slowly read the article without prejudice. That is, without looking to immediately punch holes in it. Please consider the possibility that it is not fake news. That the subject of the article is not a player in a deep state conspiracy to undermine Trump. That what you are reading is a representation of the simple facts.

"Kathryn Wheelbarger, one of the Pentagon’s most prominent and respected policy officials, is resigning after three years in the job after President Donald Trump dropped plans to nominate her for an intelligence post, sources tell Reuters.
Wheelbarger, who is highly regarded by national security experts in Trump’s Republican Party and among Democrats, had been named by the White House on Feb. 13 to a senior intelligence position at the Department of Defense.
But in a surprise move last week, the White House instead announced plans to nominate Bradley Hansell, a former special assistant to Trump, to the position of deputy under secretary of defense for intelligence."
.........................................................................................................................................
A story like this tends to get lost in the shuffle in the wake of Supreme Court decisions and the release of excerpts from controversial books like Bolton's. Nonetheless, it deserves our attention.

By all accounts, Wheelbarger is a highly qualified official who the US has lost the serves of because she's been passed over for a job she was well suited to fill. It's not the first time something similar to this has happened.

The question I'm asking that you ponder is whether this story fits a pattern of what you have heard in the past. Namely, a qualified person not getting a job because “It looks like she failed the loyalty test somehow,” said one former U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"Her departure will come as Trump attempts to overcome stiff Senate opposition among Democrats to his nomination of retired Army General Anthony Tata, a strong defender of Trump on Fox News, to the Pentagon’s most senior policy position.
Tata has misportrayed former President Barack Obama as a Muslim and accused him of being a “terrorist leader” working to benefit Iran, according to now-deleted Tweets seen by Reuters."

Here we have another example of the President prioritizing fidelity to himself over the dubious character of someone who has made outrageously false allegations about former prez Obama.

Just as important as the implications of these actions are for compromising our national defense, they weaken the country too by sowing division among us. They create mistrust. They bring the President's motivations for personnel decisions in to question.

This story fits seamlessly with what Bolton has observed as revealed in his book. A President consumed with his own interests to the exclusion of the country's. Which in turn fits seamlessly with dozens of other examples that have been reported for the last 3 1/2 years. It's how he makes us weaker when his obligation is to make us stronger.

BTW, Trump has shown time and time again that he is spot on in his analysis of advisors' loyalty. Bolton's book shows that the man was righteously fired. Comey and McCabe were shown the door when they couldn't be counted on. Its not the "knowledge" that an advisor has to have, but his willingness to help out the President in accomplishing his goals.
The left likes backstabbers.

How does criticism from Bolton and Mattis help America in negotiating tremendous new agreements with Russia and Red China?
By making the voters aware that Trump is unfit to be negotiating with anyone.

What makes this guy not qualified? Do you even know his background?

"Washington (CNN)Candidates applying to join President Donald Trump's administration will now have to explain what part of Trump's campaign message "most appealed" to them and why.
The question is one of several Trump-focused litmus tests that has been added to a questionnaire that candidates for political appointments across the federal government must now complete.
The new questionnaire, distributed by the White House's Presidential Personnel Office to federal departments on Monday and obtained by CNN, is the latest move by the office's new head John McEntee to emphasize loyalty to the President in the hiring process.
Trump tapped McEntee, a longtime aide and loyalist, to head the personnel office last month amid his renewed focus on purging officials whom he deems to have been disloyal to him and hiring those who have long supported him."

BTW, Trump has shown time and time again that he is spot on in his analysis of advisors' loyalty.
Loyalty to him should not be the overriding criteria for whether a staff member is hired or is retained.

The criticism from people like Mattis and Bolton (though both can be rightly criticized for not going public earlier) is exactly what the country needs to hear. If it makes us stronger by making Trump weaker that is a good thing.

You Trump supporters need to remember the goal is making sure the country succeeds. It's not about Trump.
its not about trump but yet when a democrat is president your whole attitude changes......so how are you any different than them?....

They could not be counted on to lie for the President.

You do know that these positions are sworn to uphold the Constitution don't you? And are never sworn in to be lapdog and liars for a President.... we the people pay them to be competent and loyal to our Constitution.

Nothing like a good TDS thread to start the morn'!

I don't need to defend Trump. His policies are spot on. Don't care about his tweets, stoooopid things he says to tell the truth. Policies are what matters to me.

Vote Trump!

"A former senior administration official told ABC News on Thursday that Wheelbarger likely was passed over for the promotion because she was seen as a holdover from the team who worked for retired Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis, President Donald Trump's former defense secretary who resigned over policy differences with the president in late 2018. The official called Wheelbarger an independent thinker who wasn't deemed loyal enough to Trump."

The subtext of "wasn't deemed loyal enough to Trump" is Trump isn't confident the appointee will keep his/her mouth shut about things like him approving of China building concentration camps to imprison an ethnic minority there.

Absolutely right.

Wow someone quit because they did not receive the promotion they thought they deserved. Omg this happens almost weekly in the world. This needs to be investigated immediately. People so full of themselves that they think their qualifications are better then others. My god.

Kathryn Wheelbarger of California, to be the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security.

Ms. Wheelbarger currently serves as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs. Ms. Wheelbarger previously served as the Policy Director for the Senate Armed Services Committee, Deputy Staff Director and Senior Counsel for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and Deputy Chief of Staff for the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Ms. Wheelbarger also served as Counsel to the Vice President in the Office of the Vice President of the United States. She was also formerly the Counselor to the Secretary at the Department of Homeland Security. Prior to her present role, she was Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at CSRA, Inc.

Wheelbarger was in line for the job not so long ago. What happened since then? Mattis went public with criticism of Trump. Wheelbarger was part of Mattis' team.

President Trump is likely concerned about Ms. Wheelbarger's loyalty and whether she seeks to undermine the office of the Presidency. What good is any advisor if they aren't trusted?
If he is acting in the best interests of the country why would he be worried about her undermining him? She is respected by members of both parties. Trump's only concern should be whether she is competent to do her job for the nation she serves. She serves us, not him.

The fact that he doesn't look at things that way is exactly the problem.
WHO THE FUCK SERVES US...THEY DONT WORK FOR US, WE WORK FOR THEM

People can't even discern competence from incompetence
because everyone has been dealing with incompetent politicians for so long
it has become what is considered competent

I implore you to consider what this actually means and why you should be HAPPY about it.

Have you ever heard of the military/industrial complex?

The "deep state" as it is called, is nothing more that a bunch of DC insiders who benefit from government policy (mostly defense policy) and the spending it requires.

Just consider that for a moment.

So, why would guys like Bolton, the generals, and other people who are closely tied to defense contractors (John McCain) be so pissed at Trump? Why would they universally refuse to answer Trump's cost/benefit questions about the shit-ton we spend keeping troops in Germany, South Korea, Japan, etc?

This is not intended as a jab at you. Seriously consider what is actually happening and why it is exactly what you want to happen.

"ABC News analyst Mick Mulroy, former deputy assistant secretary of defense for the Middle East, called Wheelbarger "one of the hardest-working, smartest and most talented people I have worked with in government."

"She should have been confirmed for the job she so ably did for over a year and half," Mulroy said. She is a consummate professional who undoubtedly will be missed by the whole Pentagon policy team."

Which begs the question.............why was her appointment scuttled?

"A former senior administration official told ABC News on Thursday that Wheelbarger likely was passed over for the promotion because she was seen as a holdover from the team who worked for retired Marine Corps Gen. The same Gen. James Mattis who recently criticized Trump over his photo op stunt.
