I spent half of my career working as an engineer on DoD contracts. Let me explain it to you this way. The Pentagon needs new wars to keep the war machine humming. President Trump has proven he does not want to get us into new wars therefore he is viewed as a threat to their power. There is enormous money and therefore enormous power in the Defense hierarchy. They see that slipping away and that terrifies them. That is why the DoD wants Trump out and Biden in. They want a puppet who will declare war as he is told. They want Biden in and Trump out.

BTW, Trump has shown time and time again that he is spot on in his analysis of advisors' loyalty. Bolton's book shows that the man was righteously fired. Comey and McCabe were shown the door when they couldn't be counted on. Its not the "knowledge" that an advisor has to have, but his willingness to help out the President in accomplishing his goals.

Loyalty goes to the constitution, not the president. And there is an absolute need to speak truth to power, especially when that power seeks to break the law. Otherwise we sink into Authoritarianism.
