An authoritarian government makes it easier for the governement to do things because the government is controlled by one or a few people without checks on their power. Our seperation of powers puts checks on all three branches if we implement our system as the founding fathers wanted.

Our founding fathers built a government with seperation of powers to prevent an authoritarian government.
Their wishes are more important than your families desire to change what they built.

We have done it for 248 years until Donald Trump took the Presidency and would only hire yes people. Then he tried to destroy Judicial and legislative checks on his power.

There was deep divide in political leanings with the founding fathers but they were smart enough, mature enoug, to find a way to come togethe to form our government.
