In this nanoessay I discuss the Patriarchy as it existed for about Four Millennia up to early XXth Century. Patriarchy has provided happiness and well-being to billions of men over millennia. Patriarchy was unfair and exploitative toward most women, who had to sacrifice their labor and resources. Nevertheless, most women were protected from abuse and could own property. After the Industrial Revolution, any system based on servitude became unviable. Patriarchy ended in most places, and it can never be brought back. At this point, Egalitarian system is the best choice.

We can consider the scope of Patriarchal Civilization. Not all Cultures and Civilizations were Patriarchal. Some were mildly Patriarchal and a few were Gynocentric. I would estimate that about 60% of those who lived during the last 40 Centuries lived in truly Patriarchal cultures. About 70 billion people have lived during the last four millennia. Here. This implies that about 30 million adults lived during these times. About 9 billion adult men and 9 billion adult women have lived during Patriarchy. Patriarchal Civilization has a very long History involving hundreds of Cultures. Thousands of books have been written about everyday life and Sociology of these Cultures.

In order to understand the Patriarchy, we must understand life and economic reality of all pre-Industrial societies. Resources were very limited. Production per capita was lower then that in the poorest Nation in 2021. Child mortality was 30% to 50%. Here. Between the time of Hammurabi and late XVIIIth Century, agrarian life and everyday technology did not change much. In addition to natural difficulties, a significant portion of the fruits of labor of most people was expropriated by States and Elites. Outright Slavery was rare, but "mild" forms of economic exploitation were prevalent. Overall, for the vast majority of people, life was difficult.

Most people over the millennia were poor and exploited by Elites and States. The Patriarchy gave men a position of authority and help within their own households. Most women loved their husbands and helped them in the difficult World. Dr. Jordan Peterson calls this arrangement Enforced Monogamy. He has been subject to much public abuse over this opinion. Here. Enforced monogamy means socially-promoted, culturally-inculcated monogamy. For most men, having a partner who loves and respects them is the definition of Happiness.

Patriarchal Society was unfair to women. Most women were on the bottom of Social Hierarchy and had many duties and responsibilities. Nevertheless, in many Patriarchal societies women were protected from abuse. Hammurabi's code allowed a wife to divorce her neglectful and abusive husband. Wife beating was prohibited in American Colonies since XVIIth Century. Married women could own property in most Patriarchal Societies. Here.
Throughout History, the vast majority of men did not hate women. Philogyny was much more common then Misogyny. Here.

Definitely, by Modern Standards, Patriarchy is very unfair. Inequality is wrong. The Founding Fathers of America understood that All Humans are Created Equal. Sadly they did not follow this principle. After the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, every system of servitude became unviable. In places, where Patriarchy still exists it is waning rapidly.

Well in the African American community it is completely gone to the tune of about 70% of US households, with correlating poverty and crime within those communities.

Some coincidence, eh?

I just can't understand it, why is it that single teen mothers who are largely uneducated can't have kids on their own and escape poverty? They just need more welfare, right? Must be systemic racism.

Of course, BLM is all about keeping the status quo as they demonize male run households.

Some time earlier I have written here about French Serfs. They were not slaves. They were neither owned nor physically abused. But they worked on nobles' land and had to pay 30%-40% of their produce in rents, taxes, and tithes. Their work made France great.

Women were never enslaved by the Patriarchy. Women were protected from abuse. Women had less rights then men, but they did have property rights. Nevertheless, Patriarchy benefited lower class men. Lower class men were in turn subject to Nobility and their Nation.

A normal woman loves to be number two, loves to be a "princess". Ugly women unclaimed by men want matriarchy. In this case, they force men to have sex or buy them for money.

This applies only to matriarchy. Agricultural slave empires arose on the basis of matriarchy.

After the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, every system of servitude became unviable.
If that were the case, matriarchy would disappear. Matriarchy has always been a slave system. All free societies were patriarchal. In order to hold power, women need slavery to keep the people in the dark and manipulate the army. Otherwise matriarchy is impossible.

How does one create a nanoessay on a topic without a clear definition of the main term itself? However poorly conceived or brilliantly conceived the nanoessay may be, it is unlikely to lead to much fruitful discussion BECAUSE whatever the author seems “patriarchy” might not be what the readers consider “patriarchy.”

I expect certain people will think “oh come on. Just look it up in a dictionary.” To which I say: not all dictionary definitions are necessarily accurate and they do sometimes provide different definitions one against another.

Define your term and the parameters. Then maybe the discussion can at least be premised on an agreed upon meaning.

For some reason, the matrons needed to drink blood, so in the matriarchy there were very cruel rituals of human sacrifice. Tipical image of matrons:

My definition of Patriarchy is the system which provides benefit for men at the expense of women. From my historical research I would conclude that:

1) Patriarchal system was common but not universal for 40 centuries.

2) Patriarchal system was much less severe then claimed. Women had less rights then men, but they did have rights. Women could and did own property. Wife beating was illegal in England and American Colonies.

In the area of ancient matriarchal cultures (mainly in Old Europe), archaeologists find traces of slavery and terrible rituals, traces of cannibalism and mutilation. The longhouses of matriarchal cultures were nothing more than the prototype of the slave barracks. Slaves were kept there along with pigs. All these cultures are characterized by extreme backwardness, they did not even know the wheel and the potter's wheel before the arrival of the Aryans.

My definition of Patriarchy is
You are entitled to your individual opinion, but this has no bearing on science and objective reality. In reality, Patriarchy is a right-wing system. The power of men and freedom. For example Knighthood.

The Priest of Cybella. On the right is a whip for self-flagellation.

These cults practiced self-castration. Not only priests subjected themselves to this, but also ordinary men in a state of passion during bloody orgies.

Through the deep seas Attis rode on a swift raft,

And having moored, he ran at a run deep into the Phrygian forests,

To the sacred places surrounded by forests.

Spurred on by rage in the heart, with an obscure mind,

He castrated himself with the edge of a stone in a wild impulse.

"Attis" by Gaius Valerius Catullus

There is no doubt that the cult of Dionysus and the Christian eunuch sects originate from the cult of the Mother Goddess.
It is very likely that BDSM has the same roots.
