AustraloidIf a person isn't Asian or Negroid, they are .... ????
1. Where the Word Came From
The term was coined in the late 18th century by German anatomist Johann Friedrich Blumenbach. He divided humanity into five groups and labeled people of European and West Asian descent as "Caucasian" because he believed the most "beautiful" human skulls originated from the Caucasus Mountains region in modern-day Russia.
Genetic Reality vs. Social Construct
Modern geneticists and anthropologists agree that race is not a biological fact. Biological traits (like skin color) exist on a spectrum, and there is more genetic variation within a single population than there is between different populations.
While "Caucasian" is not a valid biological category, it functions as a social construct used to describe people of primarily European, Middle Eastern, or North African descent.
- United States: The term is commonly used as a synonym for "white" on medical forms, official censuses, and in everyday language.
- Europe & The Caucasus: It is rarely used to describe ethnicity. In this region, "Caucasian" properly refers to the indigenous people who actually live in the Caucasus Mountains (such as Georgians, Chechens, and Armenians).
I believe it to be far more complex to define the "original" homo sapiens - from who later more "racial" distinctive features developed.
My favorite candidate for "original" homo Sapiens - factually looks like this - not to mention their unbelievable tracking and survival skills.
