I believe US holds 70 and China holds 10. All developed nations have no intentions to open their market fully to China, especially EVs, despite how much they loathe Trump. Canada is giving Trump the cold shoulder by allowing limited Chinese EVs into the country. Could be their strategy until Trump leaves office.
Trump literally got rid of China's presence in the Western hemisphere with the exception of Argentina where China has a few insignificance footprints. China can only pressure developing and undeveloped countries but those countries do not have the market to sustain China's economy. Look at their aviation industry. Not one developed nation places an order for their homemade plane. China has been waiting for the FAA to certify but the FAA is dragging its feet for reason we already know.
As for their AI, no business in the US, western Europe, S. Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand is silly enough to use Chinese made AI to compromise their network. Whatever the case, China needs US market to fuel their economy. You could say that decades of manipulating their currency and industrial espionage are coming back to haunt them.
If a Democrat is back in office, US influence would shrink.
I like your assessment. I would only add that China wants to hold the 70 and for us to hold the 10, so we shall see what comes out of this, I think China is about as predictable in their reactions and as open to compromise as is Iran, both want all the gain to be on their end.
