A lot of the Odyssey is about the hero's teenage son, Telemachus, and his striving to do the duty of an adult. The last century's decadence introduced just the opposite, the Oedipus Complex. If we are to find our way again, we must recognize that the nature of our next generation should be like Telemachus, fighting side-by-side with his father in order to save his mother.

I’m not sure the Odyssey is a super compelling story anymore so he’d do well to modernize and change the story some. A scene by scene retelling sounds boring but I’ll give it a chance. Matt killed it in The Martian and the Bourne’s.
