None of it.

And none of it is actually wrong or bad, either. That's the thing.

Now, there are things I think are bad - murder, theft, etc. Things that do actual harm to other human beings.

If religion restricted itself to that alone, I probably wouldn't have as much of a problem with it.

But religion is about "control", not morality.

Whether it be not eating meat on a Friday during Lent or making some woman wear a burkha, ("stop showing that ankle, you slut!") or making everyone show up at a house of worship once a week to grovel in front of the imaginary sky man, most of what you call "holy" is about control.

And trying to ban behavior you don't like is, too.

I would never have an abortion, or get a gay marriage, and porn frankly bores me. But I wouldn't tell anyone that they couldn't indulge in those things, because it isn't any of my business.

What you have always gotten wrong about religion is that its sole purpose is to know and follow God and free oneself from the control of government, society, and those who use others. Knowing and following the Holy Ways of God is true freedom and this freedom is what many of us want for all of humanity. The choice is freedom of holiness or the slavery of sin. The minute anyone opens them up to sin including all that is on your list, they enter into the slavery of others. Think about it. Do you know why we have abortion in the US? It is because the medical field saw a lot of money going over to Europe instead of going into their own pockets. Look at some in our nation always trying to find the victim--not to help, but to milk. There are those out their who live in fear they will run out of victims.

Yes, Joe, I am well aware that people of faith are just as fallen as every other profession. You don't give religion a pass, but you sure do give everything else a pass.

God's religion (faith in Him and His way of holiness) is more than enough. All throughout time, people enthusiastic about knowing/being with God, have added their own insights. These insights have been collected into what, today, is known as the Bible.

I have seen Catholics pray to a stature of Mary.

You see a statue and jump to a wrong conclusion...while God is seeing what is coming from the heart.

Exactly! We readily accept we do not know all there is to know about math, that we cannot speak and comprehend all the languages spoken on earth, the names of all the plants and animals. That being the case, it's a given we cannot know everything and comprehend everything about God. However, we can know enough to have the basic understanding that God is much-much more than a concept.
