Serious discussion on "Diversity, Equity, Inclusion"

Mac, there is no discussion with someone who posted what you did. Your post was something one of these racists would have said. I can't be civil with you about this because the crap you posted was pure manure.

Not to belabor the point, but the fact is proportionately there are far more black superstars in the NFL and NBA as well as in the NCAA. Going into March madness, This year Duke was/is the #1 AA men's basketball team in the country. This is their starting five most games:

Those guys in the photograph aren't there because they are black. They are there because they are extremely talented basketball players. They could just as easily have been white because their skin color is immaterial. They are the best of the best on the Duke team not because of their skin color but because they are so gifted.

And the fact is in many sports on average, there will be more gifted black people than white ones. That's just the way it is and that's okay.
Who is the coach for Duke. They have had black basketball players there for decades now, but I guess none of them were more qualified than this guy.

Who was the coach before him?

White is a race, and for most of the 249 years America has been a country whites have hired, been admitted into colleges, picked sports teams, and everything else based on color.

Those like you disingenuously try arguing using basketball or football but:

You never talk about all the sports that are predominantly white.

Sports had to be integrated because whites wouldn't let blacks play. But now we see whites whining about 2 sports in order to argue dishonestly about the non athletic workplace.

The racist argues that if DEI was normal then there wouldn't be as many blacks in the NFL or NBA. The fact you are in here exhibiting this behavior shows me that what you are saying in regards to Oprah is a load of BS.

If you spent your life being outnumbered 5:1 by blacks and were raised in a black centric society, educated in a back centric education system, taught black history, philospohy and socialized to live according to black peoples laws and mores in rder t survive, I would not feel a thing.

Your argument is based on a false equivaence. Whites and blacks have not had the same experience here, and whites outnumber blacks 4 or 5 to 1. Therefore we have more contact with whites than whites do with us. I doubt if you have ever spent years in places where you were the only white in a room full of blacks. I have been in that situation with whites.

You can stop crying because my personna is built upon having to read the racist bs from the whites in this forum.
What’s a “black persons law”

Sports is nothing. Get it! Sports is what a tired person coming home from work to watch as entertainment. People take it seriously to degree. The real life is having great men and women work in the top fields that keeps humans advancing. And giving the citizens a good life.

Very few walk-ons in pro basketball. Most come through high school and college basketball programs.

The overwhelming majority of pro players are white and will continue to be so for years to come.

In professional basketball, specifically the NBA, over 70% of players are African American. For college basketball, the percentage of African American male players varies, but

When it's organic and natural, it can be great, setting America apart from everyone else.

When it's forced, artificial, mandated, required, enforced, and codified under penalty of punishment, not so much.

That's where the line is. And now we're seeing what happens when it is misapplied.

You cannot force or impose your "morality" on others. It has never worked in human history. I trust that most Americans, if left to their own devices, will hire the best person for the job if they are in a position to do so. Exceptions exist, but is it not a greater injustice in attempts to somehow stop the few idiots?

Foxfyre, they are all of that and more.

Well, with D.E.I. going out the window so whites will soon be out of basketball.
if we were to apply DEI to the NBA, each team would have whites, asians, blacks and all of the combinations of the above plus gays, and trannys. Would that produce the best teams? I think not. If the best NBA team is all black, so be it and if the best NHL team is all white, so be it. Hiring should be based on skill and nothing else.

There are only a few hundred pro BB players compared to tens of thousands of others, who are mostly white.

Basketball player: One who plays basketball as a team sport.

Sadly, we do not live in a perfect world where equal opportunity exists regardless of any particular discriminator. The reality is that discrimination has always existed, even before civilization came to be. And still does. I'd like to think humanity is making an effort to reduce it and IMHO some progress has been made, but there's also a long road ahead to get to where we should be. Maybe it will take centuries.

Unfortunately, there are pressures at work these days to keep us divided and at odds with each other. And it's hard to see that changing anytime soon cuz DEI is now a political weapon. It is a political tool designed to address historical wrongs by mandates; we passed laws to prevent discrimination but now we want to pass laws that allow discrimination in favor of certain groups, a backlash if you will against the previously favored and competence takes a back seat. Sounds like justice but it isn't cuz now the people being discriminated against are not same people who committed past misdeeds. It's like penalizing someone today for what his forebears did. And so now everybody is pissed; not the best atmosphere to resolve anything and arrive at a positive or better arrangement.

I hate to say it, but IMHO there's going to be some very drastic political and social upheavals to re-orient humanity. Eventually we might move forward, but maybe not. Maybe we even destroy ourselves or nature does it for us, monster meteor, communicable disease that has no cure, etc. All of that is avoidable, but I don't see that happening. We are too busy squabbling and pointing fingers.

People in the "top fields" are destroying our quality of life (think Covid).

"Too many cooks spoil the broth." (Think overpopulation.)

Most of our problems would go away if we just mind our own business.

That's fine but that's not the point.
It is the point for me. High school, college, and pro sports recruit and play the best athletes they can get and they don't care what their skin color is. That usually results in a disproportionate number of black athletes on most teams and that is okay.
