Schumer Shutdown Question

I'd say we will one day have this power and you might want to ask yourself the same question.
I'm fine if voters put in one party or the other, and they run the country as they ran on, call it democracy.
I'm not fine when one party wins and the other party blocks the policies that won the election.
One Republican yesterday admitted he would not like it if Kamala were blowing up boats off the coast of Venezuela. So you may want to see Republicans go nuclear but just remember this when it's our turn. I know you're the type to not worry about that now. Who says we will ever win power back again? Republicans are rigging the midterms. So I'd say go for it. Do your worst. You're already destroying America. Or destroying what makes it great.
We disagree. Trump's approval is high 40s, democrats are low 20s. Biden's wrong-track was 75%. The democrat's open borders was destroying Ame4rica, Trump's deportation of criminals is saving America, that's why Mayor Bowser wants the DC NG to stay, the streets are safer and businesses are prospering.
If Democrats were in charge, we'd end up giving in to some of the Republicans demands. Trump doesn't seem to feel like he has to. He's King remember?
The last time democrats were in-charge they tried to go nuclear and Manchin and Sinema topped them, so stop with the bullshit.

Donald Trump’s Support Among Middle Class Crumbling: Poll

Trump's approval is increasing not decreasing. Stop lying.

Because you Repug shit bags won't support improvements to Obamacare. Never have, never will.

Or,

Democrats are determined to push long term policy changes in a short-term spending bill.
They are demanding long term changes to policy that don't belong there.
See - The American rescue act and the inflation reduction act.
They are trying to extend the temporary covid subsidies even though covid has long been over.
The ACA will simply return to the original pricing framework
A framework that was designed by Democrats and Democrats alone.

Additionally, they are trying to Undo the 1BBB that was passed into law.

This is procedural malpractice.

We haven't blocked anything. Republicans have gotten to do everything they've wanted to do for 9 months. Now, you have to get Democrats to go along with this budget deal or to raise the debt limit. Sorry, this is how Democracy works.

Trump doesn't get everything he wants because he won. Obama didn't, Biden didn't, Clinton didn't. If the GOP had any power they used it. This is all we have. So you're going to have to give us something or Republicans are really going to take an ass pounding next year.

No Trump's approval rating is decreasing but you live in an alternate reality so.... I have shown everything you believe is happening is a lie but yet you continue to believe the lie. DOGE for example. Scam. Where's the wall? Scam. Ballroom and parades and giving Trump $230 million? Is that what we elected him to do? No sir. Mike Johnson is a *****. I think America is learning their lesson on GOP rule.

And you think his approval rating is going up. What world do you live in bro?

Donald Trump’s Support Among Middle Class Crumbling: Poll

Data from YouGov/The Economist shows that in August, 45 percent of middle-income voters polled approved of Trump while 51 percent disapproved—a net rating of –6 points. That gap widened to –11 in September (43 percent approve; 54 percent disapprove) and –13 in October (42 percent approve; 55 percent disapprove).

"President Trump has declared that he alone is in charge, and Republicans in Congress have largely let Trump do whatever he wants,"

Middle-income Americans have historically been a contested but important group for the Republican Party. In the 2024 presidential election, Trump won 52 percent of the vote among those earning $50,000-$100,000 compared to Kamala Harris' 46%, flipping support from a group that had been more favorable to the Democrats in the 2020 election—when Trump won 46% of their votes compared to Joe Biden's 54%.

The latest polls suggest support from middle-income earners may be slipping away from the Republican Party as the four-week government shutdown continues.

Republicans depriving millions of people of their healthcare coverage without public discussion is not a viable solution, yet Republicans refuse to negotiate.

Democrats are insisting that Republicans negotiate with them, particularly on the enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies expiring at the end of the year.

MAGAMike Johnson has kept the House out of session during the shutdown, preventing progress. He has run away from Jeffries' invitation to publicly debate the issue.
Democrats had the bill set to expire at the end of December, last year they could have voted to extend it another year or four but they did nothing, now that they look stupid for not doing their jobs, they are trying to blame others. Democrats have no personal responsibility.

This sit on the Democrats who could have extended the bill. They had the House, Senate and Presidency and yet they sat on their butts and did nothing and are playing the victim.

Your trying to rewrite history does not evade Republicans now trying to take away healthcare coverage from millions of their constituents when it is in their power to allow those Americans to remain insured.

A significant majority of Americans support Congress voting to extend the exiting support.

A poll last week found that more than three-quarters of people across the political spectrum are in favor of Congress extending the enhanced ACA tax credits. The poll was conducted by KFF, the nonpartisan health research organization.
"What we found is 78% of the public — including majorities of Democrats, independents, Republicans and [Make America Great Again] supporters — all think Congress should extend the premium tax credits beyond 2025," says Ashley Kirzinger, KFF's director of survey methodology.
Other polls have had similar findings: 72% of voters across political parties supported extending the policy, according to a July survey by Republican pollsters Tony Fabrizio and Bob Ward. They surveyed two dozen competitive congressional districts and found that support for the policy was high even for those who had no personal connection to these health plans.
In a memo, they wrote: "Voters don't want to see people losing their health insurance."

Americans, overwhelmingly, support extending the existing policy regarding ACA premiums.

Congressional Democrats align with the overwhelming majority of Americans in that regard.

Republicans oppose the position of the overwhelming majority of Americans.

Republicans alone have the power to defeat Democrats and the majority of Americans, and allow the cost to soar to the point that millions of Americans will be uninsured as a result.

Republicans offer no alternative.

Trump is not getting everything he wants. This is the Progressives business as usual tantrum. The younger people are going to suffer more and more as you guys increase your power. We already for a few decades and longer have people better in the same employment than others due to agendas and getting the same salary and benefits as each other. When really expanded a person can be ten times better in the field of work and earn the same as a slacker and nothing will be done about it. At that point it pays to become a slacker. We already see the costs of domestic industrial, military, space and other related products mushroom with government involved.

Then Schumer should propose the extension without any of the other massive spending he wants to do. See what happens.

I’m not rewriting anything, everything I said is absolutely true. Tell me what part is not. The bill was set to expire this year, last year Democrats had the House and Senate and Presidency, they could have extended the healthcare package. They did nothing, absolutely nothing. Where am I rewriting anything?

What "other massive spending," specifically, are you talking about?

This is not last year.

Americans NOW, overwhelmingly, support extending the premium supplements to allow millions of Americans to keep their ACA healthcare coverage.

I wasn’t claiming that. I am saying the Dems had a majority in the House, Senate and Presidency. Correct?

They knew Obamacare was going to end at the end of 2025 because Democrats had voted for it to end in 2025. Correct?

The lost the election and lost control of the House, Senate and Presidency starting in 2025. Correct?

They knew the bill was in jeopardy because Republicans were not going to renew it. correct?

Yet for over two months after the election, they did not do one damn thing to extend Obamacare. Correct?

Now, why would Democrats be so stupid not to extend Obamacare as it was their pet project, before the end of their respective terms?

I realize what polls say now but you are going to tell me that this is just a recent turn on events? The Dems didn’t do their job, they were ******* lazy and got caught.

Oh and btw, it was 59% favorable last year.

Now why didn’t the Democrats act and where am I rewriting history because as it stands I am correct in what happened and what happened is those lazy bastard Democrats didn’t do their job and now the Democrats are voting to keep the government closed.

I don't understand what you now expect to be done in the past.

Shouldn't we be dealing with the
present?

We wouldn’t be where we are today had the Dems not been lazy, you would’ve thought they’d get smarter after the overturning of Roe v Wade, but they are stuck on stupid.

They need to suck it up, vote to open the government with a contingency to come to an agreement with Republicans to work on healthcare. What their stupidity has done is cost the American taxpayer tons of money. The time for using bargaining power was last year, not now when the cost and uncertainty is so high.
