Schumer Shutdown Question

That's exactly what Republicans told us you ******* hypocrite. You don't even realize it.

Lying hogwash as always. The CR passed the existing rules in the House (surprisingly). Now you Razorbacked pigs want more, you don't like the rules. Just SHUP.

In near-daily press conferences and dozens of media appearances in the 2 1/2 weeks since the shutdown started, Johnson has reiterated the Republican position: No negotiations with Democrats on their health care demands until they stop holding the government “hostage” and vote to reopen.

So he wants Democrats to go along with them and THEN they will negotiate with Democrats after? When Democrats have no leverage or power? Who's lyin now sthinker?

Next budget talk you loon. This was 2 months. Get off the boards you big fat APE.

Wow I didn't realize how much power Democrats have. Why don't Republicans just give them what they demand?

What are Democrats demanding? That you don't let Obamacare subsodies expire? So Americans healthcare costs don't double?

$1.5T increase in waste on Illegals and phony Stain. It's a non-starter per President Trump. Eat it pantyface.

They are now, and that's putting the pressure on democrats to end it.

All but three senators in the Democratic caucus are withholding their support for the Republican-led stopgap funding bill, unless Trump and enough Republican lawmakers agree to an extension of an enhanced Affordable Care Act tax credit that is due to expire on December 31.

I just think it's funny Republicans are telling Democrats to open up the government and they'll talk. No they won't. For 10 months now Republicans have been making cuts that we hate and there is nothing we can do about it. Now we finally have some leverage. And guess what? The government workers who are not getting paid right now support us.

Youre right. If it was me, open it up THEN we make it permanent. Remove your BS buried in Inflation act or New Green Steal you crooked criminal halfwit.

We should ask someone who's actually involved in the process. You can't ask 99% of Republicans. They're afraid of Trump and MAGA constituents. You can't ask Dems because Cons won't believe them. So let's ask MTG.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) ramped up her criticism of House Republican leadership, saying the GOP will lose the House if the cost of living does not decrease.

“I can’t see into the future, but I see Republicans losing the House if Americans are continuing to go paycheck-to-paycheck,”

household debt, mortgage balances and credit card balances rose by $185 billion, $131 billion and $27 billion, respectively, in the second quarter of 2025.

During the first week of the shutdown, Greene also said on X that she was “absolutely disgusted” that health insurance premiums are projected to more than double for millions of people if Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits expire. The Georgia lawmaker, while noting she’s “not a fan” of the 2010 law, slammed Republicans for not having a concrete plan on the impending increase in premiums.

Trump has been promising to show us his plan in 2 weeks but he's been saying that for 10 years!
If the cost of living decreases you will be crying that Trump created a recession. The only time you see a decrease in the cost of living according to most people, it’s a bad thing. Every President but Harding, Coolidge (which was good as it handled government debt and had us on solid financial ground) and Grant (which was bad) had overall deflation. Not Kennedy, LBJ, Carter, FDR, Truman, Clinton, Carter, Obama or Biden, no other Democrat or Republican President, why would you expect it now?

There are only two types of Americans. Those who are seriously concerned about what Trump's doing and those who aren't. We all know which side you are on. Now go lie some more to other people.

Can’t figure it out so you avoid what I post and try to change the direction. Classic tactic the ignorant use. Another example of you being dishonest.

liar

Like I said. There are two kinds of Americans. Those of us who are concerned about Trump and those of us who are not. You are not.

It's like a libertarian saying to me "I told you I'm not a Republican". Yea, sure you aren't. LOL

Again, didn’t respond to my post, you are proving over and over how dishonest you are. Thanks!

Let's sum this up for the peanut gallery:

1. Democrats were telling us how awesome obamadon'tcare was, how many people were getting health insurance, etc. etc. It was wonderful, they said. No criticism was allowed.
2. Covid hit and OH NO! IT'S GOING TO BE TERRIBLE!
3. Democrats immediately did what they always do and threw money at obamadon'tcare so people would have an easier time paying for their premiums. Since it was in response to a crisis, they included a sunset provision for after the crisis passed. After all, it was going great before Covid, so it should continue going great after it.
3. The Covid crisis passed, and the democrat sunset provision is ready to hit. OH NO! IT'S GOING TO BE TERRIBLE!

The question naturally is, if obamadon'tcare was so great, so "affordable" (heck, it's right there in the title!!), why is it suddenly UNaffordabe without the crisis subsidies?

The government shutdown remains at a standstill, with the issue at the center being that Democrats demand that Republicans pass extensions for subsidies of the Affordable Care Act.

It makes no sense, I thought it was called the AFFORDABLE Care Act. If it is so affordable, why are subsidies needed? :dunno:

The dems have some explainin' to do.
After the Republican lie about covering illegals was exposed, they are realizing that refusing to keep healthcare coverage affordable for millions of Americans is a loser for them.

... Anxiety is rising among congressional Republicans that their party has no plan to address a critical health care deadline this fall that will result in spiking costs for millions of Americans – the issue at the heart of the deepening government shutdown crisis.

And some of those GOP members are offering a stark warning to their own leaders: Doing nothing could cost them their full control of Congress in next November’s midterms, calling for a plan that would address expiring enhanced Obamacare tax credits to be swiftly advanced once the government eventually reopens.

“I think the reality is, if costs go up under our control, it could have an impact on us,” Rep. David Valadao, a vulnerable GOP lawmaker from California, told CNN about the political effects of the health care fight. “I get that there’s some in leadership who don’t like hearing it but there’s no denying it.”

“Just watching rates go up and pointing fingers is not what we should be doing in our position,” he said.

Valadao is among dozens of rank-and-file House and Senate members who have begun drafting their own ideas about how to deal with the expiring enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies, which help millions of Americans afford insurance.

Nearly 8 In 10 Americans Want Congress To Renew Enhanced Affordable Care Act Tax Credits

A majority of Trump supporters back extending Obamacare subsidies

All of this just exposes the reality that the "Affordable Care Act" is anything BUT affordable.

It is only the best that politicians have been able to concoct that affords healthcare coverage for most Americans, and is supported by most folks.

Color me shocked, just shocked, that people want someone else to pay part of their premiums.

Republicans depriving millions of people of their healthcare coverage without public discussion is not a viable solution, yet Republicans refuse to negotiate.

Democrats are insisting that Republicans negotiate with them, particularly on the enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies expiring at the end of the year.

MAGAMike Johnson has kept the House out of session during the shutdown, preventing progress. He has run away from Jeffries' invitation to publicly debate the issue.

It is democrats refusing to negotiate. Republicans have offered multiple solutions keeping the government open while the democrats haven't budged.

They've had months to negotiate and now insist on the whole enchilada or nothing. Where have they been?

The House is not the holdup, that's Schumer in the Senate.

Americans overwhelmingly support keeping the ACA affordable, and those covered by Medicaid continuing to keep their coverage.

Republicans are determined to deprive millions of Americans of healthcare coverage.

MAGAMike knows he'd lose an honest debate, and insists Democrats abandon those who would lose coverage.

Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill Act' includes more than $1 trillion in health care cuts, the vast majority of which come from the federal-state health insurance program that serves more than 70 million low-income Americans.

The poorest Americans would be forced to pay for Trump's 2017 trillions in tax cuts that favor the wealthy
